Marriott - Convention Center Blvd. New Orleans

Hi there, we're cruising out of NO in February and I have made reservations pre-cruise at the Marriott Downtown at Convention Center Blvd.

Will we be able to walk to the terminal from here? On Google maps it looks very doable, however, we are traveling with 3 seniors. They're all very physically active & in great shape, but I want to make sure it's not 'too' far.

Thanks!

The terminal is only about a block away from your hotel as the crow flies, but the convention center is in the way, and you have to go around it.

If the weather is OK, and you aren't hauling a lot of luggage, it isn't a bad walk. When you leave the hotel, turn left and walk along Convention Center Boulevard to Julia Street. Turn right on Julia and follow the walkway/street across the RR tracks. Turn right. The Julia Street terminal (NCL & RC) is right there. The Erato Street terminal (Carnival) is about two blocks further, and you will have to dodge some traffic and ignore "no pedestrians" signs. Maybe give it a dry run.

A cab to the terminal is $7 per person.

We stayed at the Convention Center Marriott in NO and we were sooooo glad we did. Pulled our luggage right across the street and into the terminal. Was awesome!!! We would stay there the next time we cruise out of NO! Perfect!!!

How much did the Marriott charge for parking while you were cruising?

Wow!! The last three times we stayed at the Marriott Convention Center it was not across the street from the terminal? You could loop around and go down the restricted street that the cops would not allow you to use or walk over to the Riverwalk which is a couple of blocks away. But the Riverwalk is closed now. $7 cab fare from Convention Center to pier. How did you do this, is there a secret path, as we stay there most cruises we would like to walk over?

Are you not able to walk down Julia Street across the railroad tracks to get to the port? I've read where others do this.

Our cruise was a little over a year ago..I don't remember exactly HOW we did it..but seriously, we just walked across the street and dropped our luggage off...(beginners luck maybe or maybe it was the line we were going on?) We did not have a car to park..so did not need to worry about parking. We enjoyed the hotel..and the whole NO experience.
