drfun48 Posted November 11, 2013 #2 Share Posted November 11, 2013 (edited) Can someone tell me the luggage weight limit going from Quito to Baltra? I believe it's 38 lbs. checked and about 16 carry on. But if you want to be sure check the massive threads on the Xpedition roll call site entitled "Anyone recently back" Edited November 11, 2013 by drfun48
Arusha Posted November 11, 2013 #3 Share Posted November 11, 2013 According to the edocs for my October 13, 2013 trip on the Xpedition: "The air carriers flying between Quito and Baltra typically limit the amount of luggage per guest to one checked piece, not to exceed 40 lbs and a small carry-on bag, not to exceed 14 lbs" I am not aware of anyone on the October 13 cruise getting dinged for excess baggage, nor did I see carry-ons weighed. Maybe it's more of a gentle hint or recommendation...
kyriecat Posted November 11, 2013 #4 Share Posted November 11, 2013 For us (April 2013), they weighed the checked bags but said as long as we didn't exceed 45 lbs. it was okay. My documents said not to exceed 40 lbs so that is what I stuck with. They did not weigh our carry-on bags, which was good because mine was about 20 lbs. We had to turn in our checked bags the night before our flight to be inspected and sealed. I had planned to put my makeup, sleeping clothes, and a few other items in my checked bag but had to put them in my carry on instead because I needed them for overnight/morning. Some people on our cruise didn't realize they couldn't bring full-sized bottles (over 3 oz) in their carry-on bags. Their bug spray and sunscreen was confiscated at the airport. They didn't seem to enforce the one carry-on bag for our group. I saw several people with a rolling carry-on suitcase plus a full backpack.
