acct4woof Posted November 12, 2013 #1 Share Posted November 12, 2013 Does anyone have any experience with the iConcierge App on the Epic? I have searched this and found very little feedback. I am aware of the $8 fee to use the messaging/phone feature if we choose to use it. Can you book restaurants with it? Excursions? Supposedly, the wifi is free on this app. I was wondering how it would block out other apps from using the wifi. I know I plan to turn off all cellular data and roaming so I don't incur a major cell phone bill. Any advice/feedback on the app is greatly appreciated. We leave on Friday afternoon....party on! :) Cheers!
Flutwelle Posted November 13, 2013 #2 Share Posted November 13, 2013 I have used it on the Epic, as well as the Breakaway, to make dinner reservations and book shore excursions. It also has the days Daily Planner on the app also. On both ships the app didn't work until the ship was actually out at sea (maybe an hour or so after leaving port), I turned my phones' cellular off and put it in airplane mode. Somtimes the app will try to connect to the internet, just hit cancel then hit use wifi without internet option. You don't need to sign up for internet access. Hope this helps... Tiggertastic Posted November 13, 2013 #3 Share Posted November 13, 2013 we used it on the breakaway and found out that they limit the number of specialty slots available on it so is worth checking with the maitre D It was fantastic for the 2 families we were with to keep in touch with each other - even a simple, where will I find you was great and worth every penny
Demonyte Posted November 13, 2013 #4 Share Posted November 13, 2013 iConcierge uses a private wlan that has no access to internet. We used the app on two iPhones on Epic and found it mediocre at best what comes to the calls and messages, for us the app kept dropping off the network and calls rarely came through and fixing that usually meant to kill and restart the whole app. If they have fixed the connectivity issue, then I could recommend it, but now I wouldn't pay for it again. hondarr9 Posted November 14, 2013 #5 Share Posted November 14, 2013 As of a month ago it was still not compatible with ios 7. Not sure if they straightened that out yet. Sent from my SM-T310 using Forums mobile app
