paulmichael Posted July 12, 2005 #1 Share Posted July 12, 2005 Hi All you Cruiser: Left London yesterday and the city, while still on edge, was getting back to normal. The Golden sailed late, but who cares. 50 or so of us met at the Wheelhouse bar for a drink before sale away and talked Cruise talk. Ship feels full and what a great group. Off for the first day, so will post something each day. A lot of us are still planing on staying on in London after the Cruise, so don't let the bad guys keep you away from your holday. It has been HOT... and looks like a nice day today. Talk at you all later. Mike Yarman
GottoCruise Posted July 12, 2005 #2 Share Posted July 12, 2005 Mike - How was embarkation?? What time did you get to the Pier? Was there a long wait.........Some have posted conflicting stories about times to arrive.......We will be overnight in Southampton on Juy 30 so can get to the Pier on our own (choice) time for July 31 cruise. - Is it better to get there at 10:30AM or 11:30 AM?? or later?? - don't fancy a long wait..... appreciate the advice........... I'm almost finished packing - thanks for keeping the Live from the Golden ailive!! GotToCruise (aka Renee)
lkmamom Posted July 12, 2005 #3 Share Posted July 12, 2005 Hey Mike and fellow cruisers! This is so very nice of you and it helps so much to keep that spark going while I am sorting and unsorting things to pack for our cruise NEXT WEEK!!!!!! Sorry, got a little carried away there:D If I could ask a few questions.....sorry. I am planning our cruise critic party for next week, what is the best way to handle that? Should I contact Mr Joseph while I first get onboard? Thanks for keeping in touch with all of us, it really means a lot, we are so excited. We have a really nice cruise critic group formed now and thankfully most of them know so much more about where we are going than our family does.:o Have fun Mike and cheers!I wish that I was there, I would buy you a drink Linda

He was really great. How was Brugges, easy to get around? Please say hi to everyone for us and have fun at your cruise critic party! Linda Hi Linda: Not sure about Kevin hughe, but will check. Brugges was great, it's very easy to get there and get around. There is a free buss at the dock that takes you to the train station, about 10 min, the train is around 3 er and takes 10 mins, then a buss about 5 mins, not sure how much, but can't be much. A lot of us went this way, and you can spend more time shopping. Will post again late, or early for you all, in the morrow. Mike

ppythag Posted July 14, 2005 #13 Share Posted July 14, 2005 Tyler supposedly has left, having decided to pursue other things [his acting/announcing career, I would guess] - however, someone told me Tyler had come to the Golden from the Star [that's how we knew him from the Star in Jan. and the Golden in May] without the 'break', 'vacation', visit home, whatever - don't know whether or not he may change his mind and return [he was not on our June 21st cruise]
AJY46 Posted July 14, 2005 #14 Share Posted July 14, 2005 I'm sailing on the Golden in two weeks on the same itinerary as you. Are there any movies shown on your cruise? Not just in the cabin, but is any public room used as a cinema? Anne
ppythag Posted July 14, 2005 #15 Share Posted July 14, 2005 the Golden does not have MUTS - but there were some movies shown in the Princess Theater, as well as the Explorers Lounge

lkmamom Posted July 15, 2005 #20 Share Posted July 15, 2005 Mike, thanks for checking about Kevin. Yipeee! I hope that he still does the "relationship" talks, at least he on our last cruise he was hysterical! Larry wanted me to ask you, is it fairly cool on the ship as you are sailing? He is still really debating whether or not to bring a light fleece. Also, can you see a lot from your balcony ( if you have a balcony)? Thanks again for posting. Have fun in Copenhagen! alla007 Posted July 15, 2005 #21 Share Posted July 15, 2005 >>Mike - How was embarkation I am not Mike but embarkation was really terrible. 06.21.2005 I wait 1.5-2 hours and a lot of people even more. (mayby more than 3 hours?) and afte it sometimes you need 0.5 hours to get to ship(they oppen only 1 gate) Ship is nice but too big. Meal is as in good *** hotel. Brugge was really very nice (164 USD - Brugge+ genT): there was a lot of people 10-20 Buses from the ship there. I like the travell but I don't think it is good Idea to take this ship once more

paulmichael Posted July 16, 2005 Author #23 Share Posted July 16, 2005 >>Mike - How was embarkationI am not Mike but embarkation was really terrible. 06.21.2005 Embarkation for me was easy and fast, not sure why it took this person that long. All lines were open when I got there around 12:00 and was in my cabin in less than 15 min, as was eveyone else in line. The line for first timers was long, but it looked like 3 busses had just arived. The food has been good I have not had a bad meal, service at our table has been GREAT. Today we are at sea, nice weather still holding up, all of us that posted before leaving are having our party tonight at 5:15 in the Wheelhouse. Mike Sounds like the person posting just is not into crusing. The ship is big, but I like it, so I just booked my next cruise on the Golden. Mike I wait 1.5-2 hours and a lot of people even more. lkmamom Posted July 17, 2005 #25 Share Posted July 17, 2005 Hey Mike!! Thanks for posting. So it sounds as if this cruise was as great as you thought that it would be, want to stay onboard and sail with our group coming up next?? I am glad that the party was nice and I am glad that Mr Joseph has been so gracious to the cruise critic groups. It is very kind of him to do this. Our group is so excited. If I do not talk to you again(because we are leaving tomorrow) thanks again for all of your updates. Although I will probably check in tomorrow morning as I cannot stay away. It was so great to get the perspective of someone who is actually onboard. I hope that you are saving some lobster tails for us;) just kidding.
