Easter Island touring

Wife and I on HAL cruise to be on Easter Island Jan. 21, 2014. Looking for info from anyone who has been there. Can we take a taxi,van to the Moai statues, or is it best to take a tour offered on the ship?

In 2012 we joined others in a private tour however many, many pax (and staff) arranged to see the Moai at the tender pier as there were plenty of private drivers offering their services upon our arrival.

May I suggest you go to the World Cruise Roll Call. I believe there have been several discussions about Easter Island.
