LiteFamCruiser Posted November 27, 2013 #1 Share Posted November 27, 2013 We are headed to Roatan for the first time. We booked a private tour with Victor Bodden. Looking through the threads, here's what we had in mind: Monkey farm Snorkeling at West Bay (Bananarama chairs, and walk done the beach) Hike the mountain at Gumbalimba Park (has anyone done this, is it worth it?) Any other good ideas? THANKS in ADVANCE.
Heartfruit Posted November 27, 2013 #2 Share Posted November 27, 2013 I was under the impression that Gumbalimba Park had an exclusive deal with the cruise ships on days they were in port. My information might be outdated though.
LiteFamCruiser Posted November 27, 2013 Author #3 Share Posted November 27, 2013 I thought so too, but a read a few posts that said there is a mountain that the Bodden drivers go to.. (I thought in the park) We love to hike, so I'm hoping someone else will share an experience.
girlscruise2011 Posted November 28, 2013 #4 Share Posted November 28, 2013 Part of my group did the ziplining last year. They seemed to enjoy it. It is located where the monkeys are.
Pom Lover Posted November 29, 2013 #5 Share Posted November 29, 2013 We also have a private tour booked. We are going to visit a school to drop odd supplies we have brought and so our 6 yr old granddaughter can see how their schools look. We will also be visiting the monkeys as this is a favorite with our granddaughter.
LiteFamCruiser Posted December 1, 2013 Author #6 Share Posted December 1, 2013 The school donation is an excellent idea. How much and what type of supplies did you bring?
Star1 Posted December 1, 2013 #7 Share Posted December 1, 2013 Do not pack to much into your day. Most ships are only on the Island a short day. Remember you need to get off the ship and walk up the hill to get to Victor. If we dock at 8am we plan to be off the boat and to meet our guide by 9am. It is a 1/2 to 45 minutes to monkeys or the beach. Ship deports at 3, need to be at ship by 2:30 so need to leave beach by 1:30 due to traffic. This makes your day to see monkeys, snorkel and get something to eat to about 4 1/2 hours. I have no idea how long zip line takes but if you add that in with the monkeys it gives you very little snorkel time and time to eat. My advice is just plan a few things each visit, Relax and enjoy life.
LiteFamCruiser Posted December 4, 2013 Author #8 Share Posted December 4, 2013 Thanks, that sounds like good advise.. We really want to snorkle at West End and see the monkeys. Maybe that's enough.
