I understand that wr are permitted to carry on 1 bottle of wine each. But since our first port will be in Florida, can we bring on more? Or will they take and hold it till the end of the cruise?

When you get back on the ship at your first port you can carry some on. If they see it they will hold it,if not,take it and enjoy...

You might or might not be able to get away with bringing wine on at your first stop in the US.

 

Nothing to lose, if they grab it will return the last night.

They will likely take it from you as the rules do mention embarkation only if my memory serves me well.

 

You will get it back the last night so there is no harm in going for it.

Depends on the cruiseline. Not sure the one you are going on. Royal Caribbean allows 2 bottles per stateroom on embarking only. If you bring stuff on at other ports they will keep it until you disembark.

In our Aug. 24 cruise, the new policy is the wine (over the 1 bottle limit) will be confisticated and held until the morning of debarkation, not the night before. I wasn't happy about that.

 

They also had the express baggage check with airlines. When I inquired about it, at first I was told they will not bend the policy to return wine back to me, and I can check the bags, but still get the wine bottles on debarkation morning.

 

We still signed up for the express baggage check. But at the time to sign up, the rep then said he noticed we have wine held, so he put/sent a note to return the wine to us the night before.

 

So the policy was not clearly understood by Carnival's own staff.
