angelndscz Posted December 10, 2013 #1 Share Posted December 10, 2013 My husband wants to research inexpensive parking options. Last year I parked at Fulton's garage because DH couldn't make the trip. We are visiting New Orleans for an event at the convention center and staying at the Hilton Garden Inn (right next to Fulton's garage). Because we are not on a cruise, Fulton's is $20 a day. I did a search of the board for the Whale lot to try and find prices but one poster said that was only for cruise passengers. I couldn't find it in search, but I thought I once read that you can park at the casino and just play slots once a day to get free 24-hour parking? With my husband and 21 year old son with me on this trip, that may be an option? Is this still the casino deal or am I remember incorrectly? WLHyatt Posted December 10, 2013 #2 Share Posted December 10, 2013 The whale lot is open to the public. I think it has a similar rate around $20 per day when not cruising.
jgmpuma Posted December 10, 2013 #3 Share Posted December 10, 2013 The parking at Harrah's is still the same. You play for 30 minutes with a player's card and get 24 hours free parking. Whether or not that turns out to be a good deal depends on how you do at the slots.
Sipsey Posted December 10, 2013 #4 Share Posted December 10, 2013 I have used the Harrah's deck in the past. But you might have to exit and reenter once per day as I think that validation is only good for 24 hours.
jgmpuma Posted December 12, 2013 #5 Share Posted December 12, 2013 They have changed the procedure somewhat. You swipe your player's card at a kiosk near the escalators before you leave. When you leave, you present your player's card and ID to the cashier. The person who played on their card has to be in the car.
Chmielel Posted December 15, 2013 #6 Share Posted December 15, 2013 (edited) I just returned from a NCL cruise that sailed from New Orleans and found several covered parking lots across the street from the Convention Center (which is in front of the cruise terminal) for $12 a day. Help that helps! Linda PS The parking in the Hertz garage include a free shuttle to the terminal. It was close enough that we just walked. We always use Fulton but your $12 a day rate would be cheaper. do you remember if the lots had 24 hour security in them or where well lit?
