Received call yesterday

1 triumph 5 day

2 18 days out

3 4 people in two cabins

4 an Interior and an OV

5 offer to side by side Oceon Suites from $350 per cabin.

This made my price $279 (interior) plus $175 upsell per person for total of $454. Current list price on room is $829.

Accepted. I enquired "how" they decide who to call with offers. I was told that there are six reps assigned to "suite up sells" and each does it differently. My rep said he calls his diamond people first and then his platinum. I was call number four on this ship for him. He said two accepted and one declined.

Interesting how each "upsell fairy" is allowed to do things differently.

Have a great cruise!

Has anyone gotten an upsell call when you have two rooms booked?

1) Dream 7 days Leaving 2/23/14

2) Upsell email came on Jan 7th, 46 days prior to sailing, "Special offer" Promo Code M6C

3) Original booking was: Two Cabins, 3 people in each, both cabins Upper Deck Balcony Forward (8A) 1 Starboard cabin and 1 Port Cabin

4) Received the email so I called my PVP and he told me what cabins were available and also said that he could not book it. He gave me another number to call after we selected the new cabins.

5) Booked 2 cabins, side by side, Vista Deck, Balcony Forward, for $40 each cabin. I remained booked under a casino rate (casino cash remains) and the other cabin remained booked under "more the merrier" rate.

We were thrilled to get the side by side balconies!

We got a call from carnival while driving to the port that morning. We upgraded from a balcony to a suite and I'm not telling how much, because after looking at all the previous answers - we got ripped off! It helped a lot though with having 2 kids in the cabin. I'm glad we did it.

We didn't know our original cabin - it was still TBA. I think it was a SPA balcony from what I could gather at check in though. I would not have been happy about that though b/c you can't smoke on those balconies and I'm a smoker.

We also received a dirt cheap price for the original booking, so even though we got ripped off (I guess) for the upgrade to the suite, it was still pretty reasonable.

3. 2 ppl. 2 cabins (4 ppl. total)

4. Booked (interior) portholes on upper deck.

5. Offer 2 ocean view cabins for $40 per cabin

We declined because we already had portholes and didn't want to be moved down in the ship.

I need to upsell guy's number, specifically for the Valor, but I would try other ships. I think the weather problems are already having people cancel and suites are opening up. I can book them online but the normal PVPs can't see them. I need an upseller to talk to!

1) Ship and length of cruise - Carnival, Glory - 7days

2) How many days before the cruise were you called? 7 days

3) number of people sailing - 2

4) Cabin type you were booked in and deck - 8B Balcony, Deck #7

5) upsell offer cabin type and price - Ocean Suite, $249 per person additional

We booked a balcony cabin at the rate of $739 per person, which I thought was a good deal. I didn't take this upsell because I would rather spend the extra $500 on excursions.

  • 3 weeks later...

I just got are call 2 weeks out from cruise. I have to say on the last 4 cruises with Carnival I always get a call to upsell to a suite and usually always do it. So on this one

1) Splendor 8 day cruise

2) 2 in the room

3) deck 8 balcony 8c

4) offer was to ocean suite on deck 7 for $440 which I decline because I am Platinum now and the only advantage to a suite is a bigger room and I really wanted a spa balcony because I was going to buy the spa pass for DW and me so she offered me a spa suite for $269 per person so $538 which I took. I still saved $1000 over what it was going for so I was happy.

I will debunk your theory just a little. Have used the same PVP for the last 8 years. He knows we may be interested in upgrades/upsells. We have booked rooms from OV to OS. Never received an upsell or upgrade offer from CCL.

:( Well that's disappointing. I just recently decided i had nothing to lose by letting our PVP know we'd be interested in an upgrade if they had anything at a good price for our upcoming cruise. Even though I didn't have high hopes, i had a little bit. Now i've got nothin, lol.

Thanks for that note though. Sounds like it's serious luck of the draw...

1) Ship and length of cruise: Glory / 7days

2) How many days before the cruise were you called? 36 hours before cruise.

3) Number of people sailing - 2 people.

4) Cabin type you were booked in and deck - TBD - Guaranteed Interior. Official Room Category: "IS INTERIOR."

5) Upsell offer cabin type and price - Balcony on Empress Deck. Free Upgrade upon room assignment.

We booked a last minute cruise on the Glory and chose a guaranteed interior stateroom. We paid the tinest more to confirm we would not have an upper/lower.
