Boatyard

While the walk wasn't long, I felt that we walked thru some sketchy areas a points, and crossed paths with some sketchy people. I generally like walking places - saves money, gives you a better local feeling - but I would take a taxi - $3 or 4 per person. One of the other people we were traveling with is an Iraq veteran and he said parts of the walk reminded him of Bagdhad. I'm guessing this was an exaggeration, but his defenses were up the whole walk, as were my husbands. It took them both a little while to relax once we got there. Just take a taxi.

We always go to copacabana beach club. It is a lot less crowded, quieter and a lot less people in the water. I usually will walk the beach and every time I have.passed the boatyard it is mobbed. I just want quiet time on the beach and a cocktail without being elbow to elbow with others.

How crowded does it get?

Does it get so crowded that they run out of lounge chairs? The website seems to make a point that are subject to availability. Should we be worried if we don't get there early in the day?

Taxi is your best bet and you get a ride back to the port with the entrance fee. I love the Boatyard beach and it can get crowded but that's because its the best place to be! Every time we have been we get there early so loungers are available. We feel safe there and the drinks and food are great. I didn't find the music loud and the sea has a gentle slope out into the water. The water is crystal clear and the beach like white powder. Now that I have a family, its still my first choice for a beach day in Barbados! :)

We have an excursion (Harrison Caves) in the morning and were planning a trip to Carlisle Beach or the Boatyard for the afternoon. Will we be able to get loungers? Is one better than the other? (I believe they are side-by-side) Pros/Cons?

I would like to ask the same question. We love the BoatYard. Have been there a few times. But we wonder if we are missing out by not going to Carlisle Bay?
