Cruzn Bills Fan Posted December 14, 2013 #1 Share Posted December 14, 2013 It's been 6 days now since we returned so I'm actually "back to reality". We sailed in an aft facing penthouse (9670). If anyone has any questions I'll do my best to answer them.
Benita Posted December 14, 2013 #2 Share Posted December 14, 2013 Welcome back. We are booked on the Pearl in March, 2015 in the same stateroom, but on the opposite side - 9170. Did you feel much motion? Were you able to eat breakfast and lunch in Cagney's? I know these are considered suites, but as they are not part of the Haven, I am confused as to the perks. Thanks

Check in was super fast. You can eat breakfast & lunch in Cagney's. You'll also have priority tender rides where you tender. The bed was by far the most comfortable bed we have EVER slept in. Cruzn Bills Fan Posted December 14, 2013 Author #9 Share Posted December 14, 2013 Any recent menus? :) how was the entertainment? The entertainment to me was a little unusual as far as I was concerned. By that I mean there was only one "off-ship" entertainer, a juggler that performed on Friday night. Otherwise it was the normal shipboard entertainment. BTW this was a great cruise!
Cruzn Bills Fan Posted December 14, 2013 Author #10 Share Posted December 14, 2013 (edited) Also, who was the butler and concierge? I'm in the aft suites soon :) The concierge was Monica and I believe the butler's name was Mandolito. We really didn't use either much. The room steward id Jeffrey and he was amazing! willoughbee Posted December 14, 2013 #11 Share Posted December 14, 2013 My husband and I are booked in an aft penthouse suite (disability) for the Feb 2-12, 2015 cruise. That is, if Sixthman Music doesn't charter the whole ship. I did a back up reservation for April. Just reading the comments here make me wish I was on the Pearl now. We do said on the Epic in March and I am counting the days. 86 as of today I think. Merry Christmas everyone and happy cruising.
jdys Posted December 20, 2013 #12 Share Posted December 20, 2013 Wondering about the espresso coffee and machine supposedly in the suite. I'm a bit of a coffee snob and am tempted to bring my own unless what is supplied is very good. Ty Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
cacj Posted December 20, 2013 #13 Share Posted December 20, 2013 Is there an observation lounge on Pearl? Like the Sun's? Are there any 2 for 1 bar specials during the day? Are there areas where smoke is an issue?
Artemis Posted December 21, 2013 #14 Share Posted December 21, 2013 Not Batman's Skivvies (what an image :D), but just off the Pearl.... jdys, suites are outfitted with pod-style Lavazza machines. In Cagney's where you may eat breakfast and lunch, as well as at all the other specialty restaurants, they serve Bodum French press when you order regular coffee. I believe all the restaurants (specialty and MDR) used Lavazza machines for their specialty coffees, but I'm not sure (I liked the pressed coffee--they serve one press to each person). cacj, the farthest forward and highest indoor observation point will be the Spinnaker Lounge. You can visualize this on a cutaway ship map posted on my Pearl website here (do the download so you can use the magnifying glass feature to enlarge!). Can't answer re: 2-for-1 bar specials (you could peruse the Freestyle Dailies I posted in the Dailies section of my website to get an idea of drink specials). I noticed smoke in three places: the casino, certain parts of the main pool deck and out on the promenade on deck 7 (pretty heavy out there, as this is one of the few places where smokers are permitted and is convenient to access from the dining rooms; if you want to enjoy smoke-free shuffleboard, outdoor chess and checkers and walking/jogging, there is a half-promenade with dedicated track plus the deck games up on 13 midship to aft). The smoking policy is outlined on the Welcome Aboard daily in the Dailies section of my website.
jdys Posted December 21, 2013 #15 Share Posted December 21, 2013 Is coffee in pods Lavazza coffee or just the machine? Ty
Artemis Posted December 21, 2013 #16 Share Posted December 21, 2013 ^ I had never used Lavazza before and didn't pay a lot of attention. I wasn't blown away by the coffee. It seems the machine was from the Lavazza Blue line, but the capsules didn't look like this picture on the Lavazza website (although NCL could get special packaging for their bulk purchases). Depending on how far out your cruise is, you may want to ask this question via new post to get the correct answer.
Benita Posted December 21, 2013 #17 Share Posted December 21, 2013 Was the coffee supply free or did you have to purchase the pods?
Artemis Posted December 21, 2013 #18 Share Posted December 21, 2013 (Sorry Batman, playing Robin here, hope you don't mind :o) Benita, coffee pods are supplied and will be refreshed, as needed. Also a tea selection. This is a suite amenity.

triptolemus Posted December 22, 2013 #20 Share Posted December 22, 2013 Are there surcharges for breakfast and lunch in the specialty restaurants or only for dinner? In Cagneys? For suite guests? Breakfast and lunch...no. Dinner, yes, in all specialty restaurants.

I brought my own vanilla creamer.
