Two GAPearl reviews in one! Imagination 3 day 11/15 & Sensation 3 day 12/12- PLATINUM

The San Juan to Miami portion? I've been looking pretty hard at it myself. I was kind of writing-off Carnival for my late 2014 cruise but, DAT ITINERARY.

HaHa. I'm with you on this one. I was so ready to give Carnival a break, but I read another poster review and she mention this cruise. I immediately looked it up and fell in love with it.

I'm seriously thinking about it, but may have to go solo.

GAPearl - that would be fun if we ran into each other.

Hi again! I'm soooo excited to start reading the second part of your review! I had to stop for a minute and tell you I am smiling as I started to read it! We love Disney! Cirque du soleil is on my bucket list. Haven't made it to one yet. We were on the Sensation a few weeks before you for Thanksgiving. We went to Magic Kingdom for a few hours when we got off the ship on Sun. before our flight. Love your hair!! So pretty! OK....have to get back to reading, but wanted to tell you these things!!! =)

I really want to do Disney as an adult. I've been once when I was 9 years old and that was it. I hope you get to see Cirque du Soleil one day. I really love their shows. Thanks for reading!

Kim,

I loved the reviews! Also, I like your new hair style. I got a free cruise (have to pay for port fees & taxes) from my local casino and will be going on the Breakaway sometime next year and am really excited!! Hope you have a wonderful New Year!

Ms. Fun Bunch

Hi Ms. Fun Bunch! Glad you like the hair. :) Congrats on winning a free cruise! I wish I could be so lucky. Have a great time when you go and happy new year to you as well!

Yeah it would be! There are quite a few people that have booked solo, so you have no worries. Happy new year!

I've been M.I.A. from CC. Glad I log in to find your review. I spotted 3 cuties from your picture with the Fire Fighters.

Welcome back! Did you read my Breeze review yet? I'm still waiting for yours.

Yeah' date=' easy for you to say; you don't have to pay to check your bag(s) if you overpack. :D

Haha! On my Breeze cruise, my suitcase was 8 pounds overweight and I had to shift some things to my mom's bag. Otherwise I was gonna have to pay!

Kim' date=' I probably should have commented along the way because I can't remember everything now. :(

Anyhow, I loved both reviews and your outfits. I really loved that blue dress.

You are a true comedian, I nearly died laughing at your description of the toothless driver.

I felt your pain about Scandal, it got bumped for the sorry azz Texans. I'm a Houston native and never liked them.

I will say that you've made me want to give Nassau another try, but only for the club...well, maybe that Tiki bar too.

I'm getting sleepy and can't think about other stuff now...besides the fact I may get to meet you; I'm booked on the November 1 sailing on Splendor...for now. I may cancel it; that made cruise #4 for next year and I want to see my husband (favorite artist) at Essence in July (will be my 1st time going; if I go) and have to make it to my friend's bday party in Philly.

And now I have to pull out Rickey Smiley's DVD, Open Casket Sharp. I never watched it and you brought it back to memory. Lol

Goodnight

Thanks for all the comments! I bought the blue dress from Express the day before I left for Orlando. I don't think I've been called a comedian before. Maybe Carnival should put me on stage at The Punchliner. :D I was thinking Scandal would come on after the game, but it didn't, I went back to my cabin after the comedy shows hoping to see Kerry Washington on the tv, but no such luck. Beware of the KMA if you do go to the tiki bar! You might miss elegant night! I love Rickey Smiley, especially Bernice Jenkins and church announcements. OMG I can't breathe from laughing so hard at him. I've never been to Essence but my friends that go love it! Hopefully you get to keep the cruise booked. Happy new year to you!

Thanks a lot! You'll have a great time on the Breeze. I have my mom and I booked on the Freedom of the Seas in September. Would be fun to join you, though!

LOL I bet! I'll secretly admit I was kinda hoping they'd have it on Sensation. They didn't but maybe I would have entered. :o

OMG thank you so much for all the nice words! I'm so happy you enjoy my cruise stories! Spoiler alert- I'll be writing more about Junkanoo Beach in the Sensation review, so don't miss it. Also I'm thinking of booking Splendor next fall. There's an awesome repo itinerary so we'll see!

Well thank you! I'm proud to be in the same category as Mikey.

That is awesome! And I thought I was a big cruise addict. Enjoy your cruise, but more importantly, enjoy your life as you are doing. God will bless you with Mr. Right when the time is appropriate. I can tell you from experience that you will not see him coming. Just keep being you because I think you have a great spirit.

No, I need to read it. And I haven't started writing anything for mine yet. Life. But I do need to start it before I go on my next cruise in February.

I need to lose my tummy before I can shop at Express again. I ladt shopped there my Sophomore or Junior year in college.

Yes, Rickey is a nut. He doesn't have the good sense God blessed him with. Lol

If you do get on stage and aren't funny, I won't boo you...promise. :D

My 1st paycheck for the year and the price of airfare will determine if I stay booked....I really want to go, but I may have to become a solo traveler for this one.

Happy New Year to you too!!!!

Awesome review. Nassau is one of my favorite ports. I'm looking very hard at booking the Splendor repositioning cruise from San Juan to Miami as my 4th solo cruise.

Now if Carnival can learn how to make cornbread on all their ships. Might have to sneak Jiffy cornbread mix on board. lol

Yes, a 6 and a 0. And the only flats I own are flip flops and running shoes. I can spend an hour at DSW trying on shoes. :D The guides were terrible, ugh. No KMA this trip. I wanted to make elegant night lol. I was tempted to order another one, but decided not to. Next trip though, I'm sure I will. haha The DJs on Carnival are so hit or miss. On the Imagination he was great, on Sensation he sucked. He was playing what he wanted to hear, not necessarily what the crowd wanted to hear. Hurt your swag lol. My tattoos mean love and beauty. Japanese kanji was popular back in the late 90's. I got them literally the month after I turned 18 and could get a tattoo, and it was the best thing I could come up with. I want to cover them up with a phoenix. I have a tattoo on my lower back as well.

)

one day I am sure your feet are going to raise a mutiny due to your excessive wearing of heals. not even going to talk about your time in DSW ( i just hope no man has ever had to be subjected to your shoe shopping). that drink sounds official.. got you missing dinner and elegant night no less.. don't get me started about the djs cause when I went on my cruise last year on the Celebrity summit there DJ bored me to tears.. but to his credit he was willing to take suggestions. Yes. Hurt my swag.. I know that as men we are supposed to be able to accept rejection but it still hurts a man's pride.

18 and that was the best you could come up with? lol.. the exuberance of one's youth. I am guessing you gained some creativity later in life. lol.. A phoenix sounds nice but love and beauty doesn't sound bad.. you got one on your lower back too?? what did you happen to get tattooed on your lower back if you don't mind me asking??

It just dawned on me to ask, where do you put that many pairs of shoes?

First off, let me say that I absolutely LOVE your reviews. You are a very outgoing, beautiful woman! I wish I had the courage to cruise "solo". I feel like I'm missing out. The funny thing is, I am a VERY outgoing person, when around people, but for some reason, I am terrified to travel alone:eek::eek: I really hope this passes soon. I LOVE LOVE cruising, however, those single supplements are BRUTAL!!!!:D:D

I love solo cruising. I did find myself wishing I had brought someone with me on Sensation, though. I didn't feel as social on that cruise. I hope Carnival continues to waive the solo supplement for some of their cruises into 2014. That would make me more likely to book one or two more. Nassau definitely makes for a cheap, lazy beach day. Next time I'll do a real tour before hitting up Junkanoo again. I've never attempted to make the wcmc. Maybe I should! I have no idea who I might have met in PHL last year. Definitely a possibility we might have crossed paths. lol :p

I too hope they keep the solo rates around so I can try solo cruising also sometime. I am not even a huge beach person seeing I can drive an hour or so and be on a beach in the summer or fly 2 hours to get to Florida and go to a nice beach any time I want. When I am on a cruise, I want to do stuff that I can't normally do at home. Unless that beach is at St. Maarten.....I went there on the eastern caribbean cruise last September and it was one of my favorite cruise experiences ever. Too bad I was not a member of CC yet then or I would have posted a nice detailed review of that entire cruise.

Check out my reviews of the Sensation and Imagination from this year - I also was lucky enough to get upgraded to an ocean view at the last minute on my Sensation sailing. I think it was so last-minute that even my vifp free drink coupon had someone else's name on it but we checked with our cabin steward and he said it would not be a problem. I personally think they should let people redeem them anywhere on the ship, because most people don't have just one drink when they drink and if they use that coupon, they will probably buy another drink in the same sitting. More revenue for them but whatever. The backpack they have as the platinum gift now is awesome. Best I have seen. That is seriously something I can use pretty much anytime, anywhere. One can only get so many Carnival hats (also nice but still) and tervis tumblers. :)

Yeah, I also agree with you that their idea of cornbread was lousy. I never focused too much on it but just seeing the pics of what they called cornbread was well, not. Kinda like Philly cheesesteaks. Everybody and their cousin tries to duplicate them but 99 percent of the time, their efforts end up being an epic fail. I always have a couple boxes of jiffy laying around at home, as I usually can get them like 2 for a dollar at the store. I do like finding the sales at the grocery. :D You will probably laugh, but the best cornbread I have ever had was probably from cracker barrel. I am sure there are better places than that but I have never found them.

About the meeting you last year - if you're the same Kim I remembered from before I was the guy who said hi to you one morning around July or so, when you were in PHL, right before you left out again. I didn't get a chance to talk to you as much then as I would have liked - I was kinda busy doing that work thing at the time but I wish I had taken more time out from working to talk to you. If I knew you were into cruising...lol I have to also say your sense of humor is awesome - I just laugh when I read your posts as I see the world in a very similar prism a lot of the time.

Anyway, hope you had a very merry Christmas and holiday season. I will be enjoying my Christmas celebration later this weekend as I was busy getting people where they needed to go on Christmas itself and making good money in the process (could I use some of it on a future cruise, hmmmm ;)).

I skipped the water taxi because they only ran every 30 minutes, but on no set schedule, plus there would be the 20 minute walk back to the ferry as well. There were plenty of taxis waiting to take people back to the port for $4. My driver was an older man with no teeth whose taxi was a beat up old, stinky, hooptie of a van with nonworking seatbelts and a duct taped steering wheel. I should have gone to another taxi because that vehicle was terrible. He said he was going to wait a few more minutes to fill up his van. I was in the front seat and about six more people came in the back, yet the driver was still waiting. We really couldn't fit anyone else in there, and if we did it would have been really crammed. We kept waiting and waiting and getting pretty impatient. Eventually the dad of one family got out with his family and was signaling for another driver to take them now, and I got out with them. We had been waiting at least 20 minutes. At that point, our driver realized he was about to lose money finally agreed to leave.

This man drove soooooooo sloooooow. I swear I think I saw a little old lady on her Hoveround pass us. He proceeded to try and give a tour, and he was even more awful than the "tour guide" on the ferry this morning. "This is where the Atlantis employees park. This is the gas station. This is the ice factory. This is an old boarded up house." OMG. Someone please take me out of my misery and SHOOT ME NOW. We eventually made it back to the ship and dropped off everyone, and I stayed on to go to the beach. It was Friday afternoon and traffic was really bad. I wish I had gotten off at the ship and walked because I could have made it in 10 minutes, and this drive took 20. This man was still wanting to ramble on, pointing out random useless landmarks I could care less about. I was trying to be nice, but I was really cranky. I felt bad later, hoping I wasn't mean to him.

So I finally made it to Junkanoo. I used the restroom and went to a little stand for some jerk chicken. It was a huge plate of food and only $6. I took it down to the beach to enjoy but had to hurry up and eat it. There was a flock of birds that started getting a little too close for comfort and eyeballing my food, lol.

Jerk chicken for lunch. Really good, and spicy!

View of the ships from Junkanoo Beach. I always thought Epic was a cool, interesting, unique looking ship. Well seeing it in person, right here is where I realized it is, indeed, an ugly ship.

Sounds like our recent cruise to Nassau! We hated cabbage beach, never again. The waves were so strong and adults kept trying to bring their kids in the water, a guy drowned the day before there. Wish we had gone to Junkanoo, we would have had a better time.

All those shoes are kept in my not big enough walk in closet. A friend from church and I were hanging out at the mall one day, and he was stuck with me in DSW for an hour! Poor guy! lol I have little old ladies tell me all the time, I used to wear shoes like that when I was your age, and you'll stop when you get to be my age! I'm like no way, I'll still be rocking my heels like Tina Turner, she's still hot at 74! :D On my lower back, I have a flower with butterflies and ribbons, really girly. I got it when I was 21, still young and dumb lol.

I'll be sure to take a look at your reviews when I have the chance. I agree that it would be nice if we could redeem the free drink coupon at any bar. However I've enjoyed sitting down to a few nice breakfasts in the MDR because of it. Since that's the only place where I can get chicken sausage on the ship, I'm ok with it. If you're insisting we met in passing, I'll let you have that one. ;) I'm guessing you also work in aviation?

Yeah, the waves at Cabbage Beach are really bad! That's so sad about the drowning! That's a beach where you really would have to be careful. Definitely not the place to bring small kids.

I could go to the mdr sea day breakfast anytime even without using the free drink coupon. Some people actually get around the rule by telling the maitre d they simply want their drink but not breakfast, order their drink from the bar, and go on their way. I think the servers just get it from a certain bar anyway so who would ever know if the people who got them actually sat down for a meal or not? I have had a few decent brunch meals in the mdr but in general I am a lido buffet type person. The only thing I hate about the lido buffet is the scrambled eggs. They are absolutely terrible. Oh, and the grits. They aren't the best either. haha It is possible to get pretty good eggs though- it just takes more time at the omelet station if there is a line. And the golf. I play a few times each cruise and it is a lot of fun. It can sometimes get a little frustrating as some of the courses are tougher than others. Definitely try it out sometime.

And you could say I do work in the aviation business. :D I fly free and cruise for cheaper.lol If you are indeed who I think you might be, I didn't want to be too specific on here about who my company actually is. It pays the bills and then some though. Never a dull day and especially busy this time of year. Actually, if you don't mind, I could email you to sorta introduce myself a little more - I wouldn't mind telling you who my company is that way. :)

OMG! Lol! I popped a movie in a half an hour ago and just realized I haven't seen a single scene in it because I picked up my iPad shortly thereafter and started reading this thread...hmmm...you're entertaining! Lol

Bahahaha...cornbread!? Made me lose it, too funny. I used to call certain older people casket-linings, but I had to chuckle at your reference too. :)

And great to hear of another Cirque junkie!!! I've seen "O" and Ka in Vegas, Corteo twice- once in Toronto and in Columbus Ohio, Varakai, Delerium, Quidam, Alegria, had tix for Dralion but couldn't make it ( I'm still ticked about that one, waited years for it to come back around) and La Nouba. I did the same thing you did and had tix close to the front. First and last time that I'll ever do that. At a musical concert-front is great, but I always live by the rule, "never sit up front at the ballet, it ruins the illusion, and never sit up front at a Cirque, it ruins the neck." Halfway back for a resident show, and 3/4 to last row for a traveling tent show.

I travel a lot but don't cruise much, I look forward to wasting more time reading your threads!

Sounds good to me. Will get to it sometime later this evening. I am having guests over for a Christmas celebration this afternoon but I do promise I will make the time. :)

Alrighty!

So have you started on your movie yet or are you reading another one of my reviews? LOL I use open casket sharp every once in a while. I'll post that as a comment on friends' FB pictures when they're dressed in their Sunday best and headed to church. "Brian, you sure are looking open casket sharp today!" haha I'm definitely a Cirque junkie. It's a shame what happened to the girl in KA this summer! :( I don't think I'll ever sit that close again either. Because of the FB page special, this ticket was the same price as the cheaper seat I would have booked further back, so I figured I'd give it a try. It was all good until the tight rope walk and trapeze acts. Back to the back next time. I'm glad you're enjoying, thanks for stopping by to read! :D

Booked solo cruise #4 on the Splendor repositioning cruise from San Juan to Miami. I can't wait. :D Going to join the roll call.

WOO-HOO! This one is going to be so awesome. :D

Yeah! Finally sat down to read your review! How do you like the candy yum yum? I put it back after examining it for few minutes, I just can't pull it off....and you gotta tell me where you got the red dress!

Hey Gina! Glad you're here again! :) I love candy yum yum! It's also really fun with the magenta liner and funtabulous lipgloss. You know I'm an Express girl. The red dress wasn't available in stores, was an online exclusive. I need to start shopping now for my next trip. :p

This is the first time I've read one of your reviews, I wish they would give you free trips to review all the ships!~

I loved it!!! I can never read the whole thing and I was flipping screens waiting for what else you had to say, lol

I had to B2MAC my fantabulous lipgloss but Milani makes knockoff so I spent 1/3 of the price!! It's an exact same color/formula!!

Yes, it is. Now to plan flights, hotels, & excursions. This cruise is a birthday present to myself seven weeks after my birthday(And I get to go back to San Juan. :)).

Are you in the social networking group? Since there are so many solo cruisers, I thought it would be fun to have a solos excursion. I'm going to post on the roll call too.
