cruzthepug Posted December 22, 2013 #1 Share Posted December 22, 2013 (edited) My wife and I are sailing on the Jewel in Jan. and I was wanting to surprise her with a couple of the pre-paid credits. I was thinking I would get her a $100 to the spa and a casino credit as well as a on-board credit (she can use for shopping, bingo, etc..). I guess my first question is, is it worth it to purchase the pre-paid credits? Second, should I buy all the credits separate or could I just purchase a on-board credit and then she can use it anywhere? On a side note, if I remember right, our first (and only) cruise was last year and we took a 3 night to the Bahamas and it seems like the spa was only open while we were in port. Granted the 2 full days we were on the cruise both days were spent in port so is the spa only open during daily business hours? Thanks in advance for any advice.... jjikids Posted December 22, 2013 #2 Share Posted December 22, 2013 I would buy casino credit on slotcoupons.com. You can get $50 for a charge of $25 for each of you. Buying specific credit makes you forced to use it. My daughter gave me a $50 credit towards the spa last year and that cruise I had not intended to use the spa. On all the NCL cruise we have been on, the spa is open both at sea and in port. It would be strange for them to be open only when the ship is in port, and most of the passengers are off the ship. cruzthepug Posted December 24, 2013 Author #5 Share Posted December 24, 2013 I found out the spa us open 8am - 8pm, I guess that's the reason we thought the spa was only open while in port.
medicalma'am Posted December 24, 2013 #6 Share Posted December 24, 2013 Just off the Jewel on Sunday. I would go with the on board credit. It can be used anywhere. You start off with a positive credit on your on board account, and anything you purchase with your key card just is deducted from your amount until it is used. Then you become responsible for the balance as it accrues, and will be charged to the credit card you designated at the check in. The spa pass is a great deal if she likes a quiet place, jacuzzis, thalasso-therapy pool, steam room, sauna, heated tile loungers, and comfortable chairs for relaxing/reading, all while enjoying the vista out the windows of the front of the ship (the same view as the bridge). It was $159 on our cruise for the use of the spa area for the week. I believe the hours were 8 a.m. til 10 p.m. I was not tempted to get any spa treatments because I have found them sub-par in the past. I just do not think they have much training. However you decide to do it, I am sure she will enjoy. Have a wonderful cruise!
