Atlantis Question

I will be in Atlantis on March 11, 2005 from 1:00 pm - 8:00 pm via the Carnival Liberty with one other person. I was contemplating booking a room at the Comfort Suites in order to gain access to Atlantis' facilities, but i am not sure if the $215 cost (+ tax, ect.) is justifiable considering the short amount of time I will be in port. Does anyone have any feed back on this? How long are the lines for the slides in March?

Also, I have read post from many members saying that it is not even worth getting off at this port because the Bahamas is dirty, the people are not friendly, and there is nothing to do. Is this the case? I would like to find something to do if I do not end up going to Atlantis. Does anyone have any suggestions on excursions or places of interest, maybe something adventurous?

Thanks :D

We went to the Bahamas on RCCL two years ago and took a taxi over to the Atlantis for the day for $10.00. For $25.00 PP, we walked the casino and grounds, had access to the beach and went to the aquarium that is in the facility. That made for a nice outing and the facility is very beautiful. The food there, however was very expensive.

We did not enjoy the rest of Nassau. Found it to be very dirty with lots of unfortunate poverty.

Definetly go to Atlantis. Take the land cab and that need be your only expense. Once there, you can tour the facilities, view about a third of the aquariums, gamble at the casino and shop. If you want a preview, send me your E-mail address and I will invite you to view Atlantis pictures on HPPHOTOS that were taken the week of May 8th. My web address is: richfret@comcast.net.

You should definitely catch a cab right at the dock and head on over to at least walk around and check out Atlantis. It is very beautiful. The cab ride over to Paradise Island for two is $8.00 +tip each way. You can walk all over the hotel..inside that is and see the aquarium for free from the huge windows in the restaurant. We went over there around 4:30pm b/c the outside security just kind of disappers around dinner time b/c hotel guest begin coming in for dinner. Since noone was there to stop us we just walked outside and kept on going...the grounds are just beautiful...especially at dusk!! You will get some beautiful pictures. You will be there long enough to get a room and take full advantage of their facilities...slides, pools, beach, etc...Whatever you do you will enjoy it. Go to the Ports of Call boards...Bahamas...and do a search for "Atlantis." You will find lots of info there!! Good luck!

hI GQUEST..... YES, I RECOMMEND GETTING A ROOM, PREBOOK, AT THE COMFORT SUITES FOR FULL ACESS TO ALL THE WATER ATTRACTIONS AND POOLS AT ATLANTIS. MY FAMILY OF FOUR DID THAT WHEN WE WENT ON A CRUISE WITH THE EXPLORER OF THE SEAS, RCLL. WE TOOK A QUICK TAXI OVER TO COMFORT SUITES, WE WALKED IN THE LOBBY AND DESK AND WERE IMMEDIATELY GIVEN A CARD FROM THERE. WE TOLD THEM WE WERE GOING TO SPEND OUR TIME AT ATLANTIS AND THEY MUST BE USED TO THIS BECAUSE OUT THE DOOR WE WERE AND WALKED OVER TO ATLANTIS. WHEN WE ARRIVED IN ATLANTIS, WE SHOWED OUR CARD FROM COMFORT SUITES TO A WOMAN IN THE HUT, AND SHE GAVE US ALL BRACELETS AND OFF WE WERE. A MAN SOON CAME OVER AND OFFERED US CHAIRS BY THE POOLS AND SLIDES. WE SPENT OUR ENTIRE TIME THERE. THE SLIDES ARE AWESOME AND VERY EXCITING AND BEAUTIFUL, BUILT INTO MOUNTAINS. ONE SLIDE THERE ARE SHARKS ON THE SIDES OFYOU. I ALSO ENJOYED THE LAZY RIVER AND POOLS AND THE BEACH VERY MUCH. fOOD IS ON THE EXPENSIVE SIDE. THERE WAS LIVE MUSIC ALL DAY AND THE RESORT IS ABSOLUTELY PARADISE. YOU CAN EVEN SNORKLE WITH STINGRAYS AND OTHER FISH. WE HAD A GREAT TIME AND I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT! W PAID 75.00 IN JUNE FOR A ROOM PLUS FEES. CALL THEM DIRECT OR SHOP AROUND FOR DISCOUNTS. I CALLED THEM DIRECT. HAVE A GREAT TIME IN ATLANTIS. I LOVE IT THERE! REMEMBER: IT'S VERY HOT HOT HOT THERE, SO USE SUNSCREEN AND YOULL HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO BE IN WATER. ENJOY, WE DID! SUSAN

Hi oceanmysteries,

How long were you in port that day? Were the lines at the slides long?

Hi Again, we were in port for about 7 hours. We left the ship right away and we spent the entire time in Atlantis. No, we didnt have a long wait to use the slides, they are truly magnificent! Atlantis is HUGE!!! They put alot of money into it. It is clean and beautiful. There are alot of people, but it didnt seem too crowded, everything is very spread out. You can see Atlantis from the ship, it looks like a huge private island from far away. Did you go to the Atlantis Website and check out all the slides? The website shows alot of Atlantis to get you psyched. Again, I also loved the lazy river, and the beach. Everywhere you go in Atlantis is surrounded by fish of all kinds, its really a beautiful resort! Have fun and a great time there! We hope you enjoy it as much as we all did! We went to enjoy the pools and slides and beach. Have fun! Susan

and sell day passes to the passengers of the cruise ships. That way they would make the money and not Comfort Inn. I can understand not selling the place out, but a couple of hundred passes would not interfere with their guests.

oceanmysteries,

What is the deal with the bracelets? If I book a room for two does that mean I only get two bracelets? When you went to the hut at Atlantis to pick up the braclets was there a way to tell how many people you booked the room for?

Hi GQUEST....... When we booked a room at comfort Suites, we booked for two adults and two children. We paid a fee for the room and a fee for the kids, not a whole charge, Ill ask my husband what he remembers but it wasnt a big amount. We showed the card from Comfort Suites { you keep it } and we all recieved bracelets, all four of us. We would do it again in a heartbeat. We had a blast! A great Excursion! and to your thank you, You are truly welcome it is my pleasure, if you have any more questions feel free!!!! Susan

I called Atlantis and Comfort Suites yesterday to find this out. A and CS said a maximum of 4 people per room, CS sends you to A with a "slip" stating 4 people.

We are travelling with 5, I need to figure a way to get all of us in. Hopefully another group will only have 2 or 3 and we can bargain for their extra spot at A. We certainly don't need their room key, just the bracelet.

I just spoke with someone the other day and they told me, when they went in June, the line for the slides was 40-45 min long!!! Holy cow !!! I will be in Nassau on March 4, 2006 from 1:00 - 8:00pm. Has anyone else experienced long lines for the slides?

Thanks for all the insight eveyone :D .

Hi again, I dont think you will have a problem in March. Its okay to check in early, we did, since we didnt ever go to the room. The desk gives you a card and off to Atlantis you go. Hope this helps, Susan

Is it true that the line for the slides can be 45 min long? If the ship gets in @ 1:00 pm, how long do you think before I am at Atlantis (taxi + check-in / check-out)?

Thanks again

I was there last night; second time in two years. I would not pay to visit there. I have not paid to visit there. I imagine if I showed up in my rubber ducky and swimmies, they might do something. I was surprised I even walked through the dig without paying anything. We then walked through the casino and ate dinner at the Atlas. Afterwards, we went out to the marina to eat ice cream. NOTHING LIKE PAYING $15 FOR four scoops of ice cream.

The place is magnificent! I especially liked the villas.
