Iluvcruising2 Posted January 3, 2014 #1 Share Posted January 3, 2014 As part of a cruise stop, we visited Brunei. Where? Brunei. See the map. Brunei is a small and independent country with about 400,000 people. She is also a rich country, with significant oil reserves. She is led by a Sultan, who is an absolute monarch. We took a ship organized tour. There was the Legend of the Seas as we left the port. It was about a 40 minute ride into town. The first stop was the Sultan's Mosque, however we couldn't enter. Never mind, just take some photos from the outside. Next was the main highlight of this half day tour, the Water Village. We would be taking this long boat to tour the water village and also visit a home. This was the Sultan's palace, from the boat. We can't go there, so we turned back. We cruise along. All of us were in life jackets, including the kids. After visiting the river home, where we rested and had some snacks (provided), we visited a nearby museum celebrating the Sultan and Brunei's recent history, before heading back to the ship. I have put the rest of the pictures in a one part blog post here: http://guitar123foodandtravel.blogspot.sg/2014/01/brunei-cruise-port-call-legend-of-seas.html Overall, it was an interesting experience, though I think there is no need to do it again.
