VC guarantee on Amsterdam?

We have always booked the specific cabin that we have wanted on our cruise. I am a little nervous with not knowing where we will be. With a VC or higher I don't believe I have to worry about the steel balconies. Do I need to worry about noise? What are the chances we will be upgraded on a prime time cruise?

There are no VC cabins on the Amsterdam, so I'll presume you are asking about the Nieuw Amsterdam. Yes, if you book anything higher than VF on that ship you will not get one of the deck 4 VH or VF steel-wall balconies.

With the re-categorization of cabins on all ships this spring there will be low-category V cabins on high decks and high category V cabins on decks 4 and 5, so it is not possible after this May to make general statements about noise based on cabin category alone. However, for low noise it is generally best to choose a cabin with other cabins both above and below you.

There is no way to predict upgrades, but IMO your odds are a bit better the earlier you book.
