Freedom upgrades - carnival - please answer!

We often travel with a very large group. We NEED to make a decision asap. I'm really trying to convince everyone that the Freedom is the ship we should choose. We are deciding between it and a ship on another line. We REALLY want to know what the upgrades will be. I know the drydock is scheduled and I'm sure plans have been approved. Why the big secret?

 

NCL has a person who has been answering questions on the NCL board - I'm really hoping CCL has the same.

 

Many of these families are cruising for the first time. So, this is an excellent chance to establish loyalty. We are really interested in any upgrades that may affect the kids - especially the water slide area.

This ship will be getting at least 2.0 and waterpark, but it is best to ask john heald on his Facebook page for official confirmation.

Bonsai Sushi Bar on the starboard side of the atrium

Cherry On Top

Red Frog Pub- this will be where Satchmos is now on deck 3 forward

Casino will be reconfigured and new machines etc added

Upgrades to the gym equipment

Upgrades to the spa treatment rooms

Draft beer systems added to various bars and lounges

2 new shows including Epic Rock

Hasbro the Game Show

Pool area gets new decking etc.

According to John Heald's post on face book yesterday it seems Freedom may get a water-park. He said he will share info regarding the upgrades soon.

Sorry you are confusing Freedom with the Legend. Wonder if the new shows are the playlist ones

First john wont tell you anything till carnival wants it released, I agree you can't tell me a company of that magnitude has no idea what there gonna do, for some reason they like to keep it a secret. dont get me wrong I like johns posts but I dont think he really gonna give out details on anything till the beards tell him its ok.

 

Allso for the amount of time its in dry dock may just get the same as legend. Same amt of dry dock time anyway.

 

I hope not cuz Im on the freedom also in the summer and i like the guys burger and blue lagunia

What is the other ship you are looking at?

 

Norwegian Getaway. Lots of kids in the group so the waterpark/pools are important.

 

I am just really frustrated that they are not announcing the changes. Don't they want people to book for summer. We are a very large group. We can't wait much longer to book flights, etc. Also, everyone needs to put their vacations on file at work. Two of the workplaces required vacation requests by January 15. Guess Carnival will lose out - just can't understand what purpose this delay serves!

That's correct! We were given the information on Friday as to what the new features will be after drydock. I hope you have the chance to experience these amazing upgrades! Let me know.

I'm sure the Getaway is a superior ship and brand new! most probably it's pricier too..

Yep - definitely more pricey. I know from previous cruises(11 with DD) - a great waterpark is the best way for us to have a spectacular cruise. She lives there!

We just spent 28 days on a back to back on the sunshine med/transatlantic cruise. The whole time we kept saying how much our grand kids would love this ship. Fantastic water park, ropes course, basketball court mini golf. This ship will be in port canaveral sometime this spring. It has been refurbished to have all the things kids could love.
