WishIWasCruisn724 Posted January 16, 2014 #1 Share Posted January 16, 2014 We were bumped from our category 4J room on the Lido deck today on the Dream to cove balcony room 2441. We knew this was a possibility when we booked the room, we just weren't expecting it to happen 9 days from the cruise. So, as you can imagine there weren't many rooms left. I have found conflicting reviews about this new room. Some say it was noisy, others say it was quiet. My question is if anyone has stayed in this room or any close to it recently? We will be travelling for the first time with our 2 year old and I was also wondering if there would be enough space for a crib? And any other info would be great. Just 9 days to go, we can't wait! Thanks in advance!
Rare Tapi Posted January 16, 2014 #2 Share Posted January 16, 2014 (edited) Can't comment about the specific cabin, but the cribs provided by Carnival are fairly compact. We've had cribs on 4 cruises (2 Carnival), including a standard balcony on the Dream, as well as on the Fascination which has smaller cabins than the Dream, and had no problems. You'll need to get a bit creative to maximize space, but it's definitely doable. Edited January 16, 2014 by Tapi

Mysticks1 Posted January 16, 2014 #5 Share Posted January 16, 2014 I looked at Cruisedeckplans and there weren't any comments for that specific cabin other than a general note that there could be noise from the galley above. Sorry there wasn't more information. No pics of that specific cabin either.
WishIWasCruisn724 Posted January 16, 2014 Author #6 Share Posted January 16, 2014 Why were you bumped? The room that we booked was a handicapped room. It was suggested to us by our PVP. But, someone must have needed it, which we understand.

StrangeBrew Posted January 16, 2014 #8 Share Posted January 16, 2014 Thanks for taking the time to check, I appreciate it! I checked the same site , almost at the very edge of the galley above you , but IMO , still a good cabin , I believe you will love the coves , I know we do , and if ever we are on a ship that has them , we will try to book one ,, so enjoyable sitting out and seeing water , day or night . Isa65 Posted January 16, 2014 #11 Share Posted January 16, 2014 I think you'll be happy in your new cabin. Not a downgrade at all and not a bad location. Fresh air, close to the water and like you said -- you'll have somewhere to retreat to when the little one is sleeping.
jjdmom8 Posted January 16, 2014 #12 Share Posted January 16, 2014 We had a cove balcony on the Dream in July and loved the room, loved the location and loved the balcony... I think it was 2414.. what we didn't love? The noise from the galley just above! Expecially at 3 am every morning.. Take some ear plugs.. It was like they were rolling metal balls (lots of them) back and forth until after daylight! Just to add.. I would book another cove balcony cabin in a heartbeat!! Yes I'm a little concerned about the size if the crib since our son is a big 2 year old, but he's still sleeping in his crib at home so I'm not sure how he would do on the sofa bed. missguy Posted January 17, 2014 #23 Share Posted January 17, 2014 Did Carnival call you to ask first or they just moved you without consulting you? Did they offer you anything and you chose what you would like?
WishIWasCruisn724 Posted January 17, 2014 Author #24 Share Posted January 17, 2014 Did Carnival call you to ask first or they just moved you without consulting you? Did they offer you anything and you chose what you would like? We received a call from the special needs department and told us that we would have to move from our room because someone with special needs wanted to book. They offered a deluxe ocean view room on deck 1, which we really didn't want, so then they offered a choice between two different cove balcony rooms, and that was all they were willing to give us without us having to pay more. The sofa bed is like a daybed, not a folding couch. Ask the room steward to turn the couch around, facing the wall.
