Blackjack on Breeze

We were on the Breeze last summer and they had 2-3 6$ tables open at most times. You could bet $5 with a $1 side bet or just bet $6 on your hand. My wife and I played about 4-5 hours each day and did not have any problem finding a table.

The $6 Blackjack tables are great if you want to just sit around and play for a couple hours which I enjoy on a cruise, I am not there to go crazy. But if you are a semi-serious player, you may get frustrated at some of the players that will sit down at the table vs. a land casino. I have had a few instances of seeing doubling on 12, splitting tens, standing on 15s, etc. As long as you take it with a grain of salt and realize it's only a $6 table you will have fun.

Also, the match play with the signature cocktail looks great, I didn't do it on the last cruise, but look forward to taking advantage of it this time. Depending on how much you drink, I think it could lower the house advantage to pretty close to a nullity.

Yeah, saw that on the Epic when we had a brief spot at the $5 table. Taking a hit when he had 14 and the dealer had a 6 showing. Makes me crazy. Then the guy didnt split his 8s even though the dealer had a bust card, saying "I'm not feeling it." Moron.

I cruise to play blackjack. I'm not a great player and I never win big, but I do know the game because I practice until I can play 100's of "perfect" hands, as determined by the blackjack experts who have computer simulated millions of hands and know the slight odds from playing strategic blackjack. I know instantly what my reaction will be to the dealer's cards, and it's consistent. I never waiver.

It's very frustrating to for me to be at a table with players who don't know the game. I realize they're just having fund, but it's still annoying. Being surrounded by smokers is bad enough; surrounded by bonehead players who make dumb decisions is awful. I take it as long as I can but eventually leave even if I'm winning. I look for a group who knows what they're doing.

I should add though that these "bonehead" players usually win way more than I do. I wonder; who's really the smart player?

I was on the NCL Jewel back in Oct. Only one $5 table. There were two $15, one $25, one $50. All with dealers at them with noone playing. Yet you had 15 people standing waiting to get on the $5 table. I talked with the casino manager about opening up another $5 table and he refused. I said let me understand, you would rather all these folks standing to walk away with money in their pockets than open a table. Yes.

NCL also used to have two $5 tables by the pool that were open on seadays but they have also done away with those also.

Just keep playing your game. We always remember the "bonehead" plays that cost us money, but over the long run people playing poorly are only costing themselves money. Their play has ZERO effect on the house edge against anyone else playing at the same table.

There are times to stand on 15 depending upon what the dealier is showing. Splitting 10's? wow

I know, sorry I meant standing on 15 with a 10 showing particularly. Drives me crazy. Also same thing as another poster said, not splitting 8s.

At least because Carnival has the side bet, a good quick view of the table is not to play with those that are betting it. It is such a bad house bet. Last cruise I preferred to play by my self than with the noobs on these tables.

But you will still see me at the tables in 3 weeks!

NCL doesn't seem to make smart decisions regarding table limits. I wanted to play pai-gow on a cruise in november, they had a $100 BJ table that was empty *along with the $25 and $50 next to it) that they would switch over to $100 pai-gow for me. I told them at $25 I was in, but no way at $100. The table stayed empty for the rest of the night.

Makes me wonder about their decision making
