Arubalisa Posted January 27, 2014 #6 Share Posted January 27, 2014 What is the California dunes and lighthouse? Is it something unusual to see? The lighthouse is one of Aruba's most famous landmarks. Pretty to view from the outside, no entry permitted. The sand dunes are the adjacent area, click on the thumbnails to enlarge

nurse kate Posted February 2, 2014 #8 Share Posted February 2, 2014 We visited on the Breeze last November. Booked a Sonny Binns tour in advance, and it was a great tour. He was so hospitable and gave a very informative tour in a secure, air-conditioned van/bus. There was even a group which was tardy and he (after an okay from the rest of the group) turned back and picked up the tardy ones. All in all, he's a terrific guide. It was just a few hours, but covered all the island's high points. google him and you can easily get to his web page. He's great about responding promptly. Very reasonable rates too. I think it was $30/per person. He's holding a sign up so you can easily find him.
cadtraveller Posted February 24, 2014 #9 Share Posted February 24, 2014 Question for Nurse Kate or anybody that sailed the Breeze or Carnival. We called Carnival and they mentioned that the port time and ship time has no difference for this port and Curacao. Just wanted to get some feedback on how long it took for most to disembark. We are sailing in earlly March and are scheduled to be at port @ 8:00 a.m. This is important to us as we have a tour booked @ 8:30 so hopefully this gives us enough time to get out. Please share your experience. Thanks.
CP Tech Posted March 25, 2014 #10 Share Posted March 25, 2014 Does anyone have any information on rock climbing and cave exchursions? This has sparked my interest.
Arubalisa Posted March 26, 2014 #11 Share Posted March 26, 2014 There are no organized rock climbing excursions. You would need to bring your own gear. For cave tours, check with some of the island tours which include one of the caves. If you wanted do the caves on your own you would need transportation to Arikok National Park. Cave tours are guided by park rangers and admission is included with the park's entrance fee.
Holly2 Posted March 26, 2014 #12 Share Posted March 26, 2014 We toured with Sonny on March 11 with a small group from the Eclipse. Everyone enjoyed the day. Sonny is knowledgable and personable. He would have dropped us off at a beach, but we opted to take the ride to the ship. He didn't have beverages onboard, but advised me which stop would be best to purchase a bottle of water and remembered to point out the vendor to me. He was very considerate of individual needs and works to provide everyone with a great experience.
CP Tech Posted March 26, 2014 #13 Share Posted March 26, 2014 Thanks for the info Lisa. It's looking like most of our group is going to do caves. I'm going with sky diving. :)
