jb456 Posted January 21, 2014 Author #51 Share Posted January 21, 2014 (edited) Earlier in the thread you mentioned that money wasn't the determining factor. I'd suggest to you that if you would really prefer the itinerary on the 7 night cruise, the difference of a couple of hundred shouldn't really matter. What matters more is that you maximize your chances of enjoying your vacation. Just be careful not to be penny-wise and pound-foolish. Morning Whansa, It's not really but still have to keep it in check. 2 extra ports, more excursions, photos, extra nights at specialty restaurants, souvenirs, etc. Casino funds, liquor, seems like a never ending list lol. I found the other thread "what did you pay" to be very very helpful. Seems like the amounts are all over the place but definitely it puts things more into perspective. Going to spend some time today reading up on the CCL for the 7 night trip. I'll make a question sheet for the travel agent for the CCL as well. Anyways tomorrow one of these ships are going to be booked :p Thanks for the chat and your time. Have a great day! horsegal Posted January 22, 2014 #53 Share Posted January 22, 2014 Hi Horsegal, Thank you for that information. 5$ a beer plus 15% gratuity right? I'm going to have to go through the pricing again and calculate a potential average it will cost in drinks Yes, it would be plus the 15% gratuity. And everyone in the cabin over 21 will have to purchase it, however you could look into two cabins and put your wife in the cabin by her self when booking so she will not have to purchase the drink package (on CCL you can only buy the package on board), and then switch rooms after you and your son get the drink package. CCL was doing a special a while ago where they waived the single supplement for single cruisers, I do not know if they are still doing that or if it would be available for the one you are looking at but would be worth looking into. Good luck!
Laughing Angel Posted January 22, 2014 #54 Share Posted January 22, 2014 jb456, don't forget to do your research on the ports of call boards. Lots of information about informal and formal excursions and fun things to do. My family hired a driver in Cozumel, and did a circuit of the island, including the ruins, beach, shopping etc. We would not have known about this option without the kind folks of Cruise Critic. I am sure you will have a blast on your cruise. Please be sure to give us a review when you get back. :D
jb456 Posted January 22, 2014 Author #55 Share Posted January 22, 2014 Thank you all... Just to update - Back from travel agent and we got lots of info :) Thank you guys for suggesting that. Were sticking with Celebrity, 5 night cruise.... at the moment were just figuring out which dates will work best for us... Either Feb 8,13,17 or 22. We thought about the one on Mar 3rd but the travel agent advised that there is a major increase in children on those dates as it's the beginning of Spring Break and that she has booked about 20 kids alone. Thank you again for all your help. We really appreciate it... If you had asked 4 days ago what CCL and CC meant. I wouldn't of had a clue lol. You folks have made this that much easier :)
knittingpritty5 Posted January 23, 2014 #56 Share Posted January 23, 2014 I haven't read thru all of these, but if you look at NCL they have studio rooms for single passengers and a studio lounge dedicated to the solo traveler set. He might meet some folks his own age to hang with when mom and dad are done! Sent from my iPad using Forums mobile app
