US Customs, KW & FL

We're sailing on the 5 day Western Caribbean in April. Our itinerary includes stops in Cozumel and Key West, in that order. I've read there is some sort of US Customs and Immigration in Key West. Makes sense, since we will have just visited a foreign port. Can anyone tell me what that entails? Do we have to get up and report somewhere at the crack of dawn? Is it just immigration or customs too? And, if we clear customs in KW, do we have to do it again in Ft Lauderdale?

But you will clear Immigration in KW on your return from Cozumel. We had to rise at an ungodly hour to do it. Fortunately, it was a speedy process.

I have heard the same, crack of dawn in key west when pre-entering the us. Not looking forward to that!

nice to know since Connie does the same cruise but reverses KW and Coz on alternate cruises....guess I would stick with the KW first itinerary based on this.....
