flcruiser08 Posted January 26, 2014 #4 Share Posted January 26, 2014 Just sailed her last week, with my 6 month old in tow. IMHO it was small and probably the worst decorated i've sailed, but it was still great overall. It had all the normal carnival stuff and probably the best staff on any ship that I've sailed. Any specific questions?
Want2bcruisin Posted January 27, 2014 #5 Share Posted January 27, 2014 I read somewhere that they offer entrees similar to those in the steak houses for an additional charge in the main dining room. Anyone know if this is true? Also read that it is hard to get a table for 2 for anytime dining.
Bobby_Mac Posted January 27, 2014 #6 Share Posted January 27, 2014 We sailed her in Sept 13 for a 5 dayer and really enjoyed it. I usually don't get excited about the Fantasy Class ships, but I got so I liked being able to get around the ship fairly quick. One thing I like about the Fantasy Class ships is the wait staff in the MDR isn't as busy as the larger ships, so they have time to talk and are less stressed. Enjoy! Mutumbojimbo Posted January 27, 2014 #8 Share Posted January 27, 2014 I read somewhere that they offer entrees similar to those in the steak houses for an additional charge in the main dining room. Anyone know if this is true? Also read that it is hard to get a table for 2 for anytime dining. I've not seen the steak house items offered in the dining room before. In my opinion it's not hard to get a table for 2 in anytime, but you're going to be real close to your neighbors. We've actually done better by requesting to sit by a window (usually a 4 person table) and telling the staff we're willing to share the table. No one has taken us up on the offer which may say more about us ;). We usually would rather enjoy a drink and wait a little to sit where we like but that's us and others might feel differently. Also, ask to sit with Louis and Pierre if they're still onboard, they took great care of us. Enjoy your cruise! I love the Paradise. Misshig Posted January 27, 2014 #9 Share Posted January 27, 2014 We were on Paradise earlier this month and had a great time! I just read a review written by someone who said they just cruised this month and it was terrible- and I couldn't disagree more. There was always plenty of food- not gourmet but good. Lots of stuff to do. We were a party of 12 from age 6 to 67 and we all had a blast! Our room steward always called us by name- and everyone was very nice. The only bad thing- is the ship is really outdated- and too dark for my taste- but that certainly didn't mess up our vacation!! Have fun!!
Max Circus Posted January 27, 2014 #10 Share Posted January 27, 2014 I was on the 1/16/14 sailing. It wasn't my favorite cruise mainly for the food. The food in MDR was lacking seasoning. And I tried alot of dishes. Actually found that lunch in the dining room were the best meals of the whole cruise. The MDR didn't have steakhouse food for a surcharge. I think that was something RCCL had tried. Don't recall ever seeing on a Carnival cruise. The buffet food at lunch was limited to only a couple of entrees. The deli was very good. Pizza has very soggy crust - so not a fan if this is the new recipe for Pirate Pizza. On Sunday, they closed the Pool Grill at 5PM (was supposed to be open to 6PM per the schedule) which was disappointing for anyone wanting to get a quick snack during the AFC Championship. Room steward was great - very prompt in cleaning and service. Always called us by name - although that isn't on my list of what makes or breaks a cruise. The bar staff was excellent - really friendly. Ecstasy is still my least favorite - but this is next on the "worst" list. And I had read all the great reviews hoping for a fantastic cruise,
JO-TRAVEL ALOT Posted January 27, 2014 #11 Share Posted January 27, 2014 My group took this cruise last Jan as our yearly group cruise. I found the Paradise to have the friendliest crew in my 13 Carnival cruises. Grand Cayman is my favorite island to visit. It is beautiful. Have a great trip!! GottaLuvCruising Posted January 27, 2014 #12 Share Posted January 27, 2014 Enjoy the Paradise! She's smaller and older, but we had a great time. I especially like that she still has "real" shows and they are very good. Dining room food was fine on 3 of our 4 nights. Cozumel & Grand Cayman are two of our favorite regular (frequently visited) ports.

carrieluvsgreg Posted January 31, 2014 #14 Share Posted January 31, 2014 We were in the Paradise in December. The biggest shock in going "back" to a fantasy class is when you first board and get a look around. (You know, 2 glass elevators versus 4 on the big ships...) it's like oh, it's tiny! But as soon as I got up on Lido, I had adjusted and was be glad to be back onboard ANY ship. We have found the service on this class to be superior. Not that we are displeased with the service aboard the big ships, but these just seem to go the extra mile. Another poster asked about additional choices in the dining room for a fee... Unless it's changed since the 22nd of December, no- that was not an option.
sbcruising11 Posted February 3, 2014 #15 Share Posted February 3, 2014 Sailed on the Paradise last August. Love this ship, small but beautiful. Lots to do. As long as I can find a deck chair in the sun=a good time for me.
Sinjan Posted February 3, 2014 #16 Share Posted February 3, 2014 Just back this past Thursday. We had the Elation Dining room and Anytime Dining. We were told that the center section was for early and late dining and the outer tables were for anytime. Table #172 has a booth seat and a chair. It is right by the server station but has more room between it and the next table over. So it feels more like an actual table for 2. Also Mihaela was the server in that section and she is wonderful. There was a long line as well as people waiting in the Library each night when the dining room doors opened. If you're in the front of the line, a table for 2 is no problem. If you wait till it clears out some, you'll have about an hours wait. But they give you a buzzer that works anywhere on the ship except the Casino and your stateroom. As for Steak House items being available in the dining room, never heard of that and didn't see it on Paradise.
