Due to a larger that expected tax refund :) -- I can surprise him with an upgraded cabin.My choices are moving from our Empress aft balcony (7453) to a Verandah premium balcony (8449) or to an Ocean Suite somewhere on Empress. Any thoughts? Is this worth doing? Is a suite worth the extra $600? What would you do? Should I stick with the aft and splurge somewhere else? Before our May cruise, we were offered an upgrade to an ocean suite and I turned it down as it wasn't on the Lido. Your cabin is in the center on the Empress deck aft. We have been in 7448 - right next door - the location is perfect. 8449 has a longer balcony but it is right below the pool deck. There are also stairs coming down from the pool deck - loss of privacy on your balcony. Suite is not worth the extra money. Your aft balcony has very little foot traffic in the hallway. A plus is also that you have to walk a little further so you can eat a little more. The view of the wake behind the ship is fascinating to watch as it trails into infinity. Stay put.
