ncarolina111 Posted January 27, 2014 #1 Share Posted January 27, 2014 Just returned on January 25 2014 cruise on the Dream on day 4 in the casino I received the free drink card for the casino only after I got the 1500 points. I asked the staff how much did I have to spend to get the free drink card and did not get answer only told "enjoy you have free drinks". I ended up with more money than I went with (had luck on slots a few times). ONLY played slots. Tried to search this answer but do not see a straight answer. Does anyone know how much money you have to play to get the free card. I was at 3000 points when I left but got my card at 1500 points. Also read that it depends on how much you play and not amount but me a my friend played same amount of time but she never got to 1500 points. By the way Loved the DREAM!!! Great ship
bigdog1958 Posted January 27, 2014 #2 Share Posted January 27, 2014 The drink card is earned at 1500 points as you stated.. My understanding is that for every 2.50 put through the machine its one point... So, you need to gamble about 3700 dollars to earn the drink card.. That does not mean you have to spend that much, you could in theory spend only about 50.00 bucks of you own money if you are winning, since you are then using the winnings to keep gambling.. Great ship My brother in law placed $500 on the table to play cards (I am unsure what game it was either blackjack or 3 card poker, his games of choice)and within 30 minutes he was given the card. We were on the Freedom . I know he didn't drink enough to cover his losses :)

You are correct. At the slots, you need to place $2.50 at risk for every 1 point earned, your money or theirs. It is 1500 points for cruises 7-9 nights, and 1000 points for cruises 4-5 nights. As for tables, you are rated for average bet, normally $25 per hand and higher, and time in casino each day. HappyAboard Posted January 27, 2014 #6 Share Posted January 27, 2014 Not quite the same appeal if you have already paid for the Cheers program.
okgirl Posted January 27, 2014 #7 Share Posted January 27, 2014 I no longer chase the free drinks card. It's getting harder and harder to get waited on and can take 30+ minutes after you order to actually get your drink. I do want to continue to gamble enough to get Premium Casino Cruise offers. They have some great perks that really enhances the cruise experience.

Of course, you have to spend enough time in the casino for them to remember you. LOL:cool:

And that is what Carnival is counting on that if you are winning you keep gambling, trust me Carnival is a head of the game and will not offer anything if they(Carnival) is not going to make money besides there is no such thing as a free lunch. clinthi Posted January 27, 2014 #10 Share Posted January 27, 2014 Not the same question as the OP but does anyone know which drinks come with the $5.00 chip? And do you only get the $5.00 match play voucher thingy at the casino bar?
