Kshecruiser0524 Posted January 27, 2014 #1 Share Posted January 27, 2014 I booked a cruise for next January with the early saver. I check the price almost every day and already the price has dropped twice. I have saved $110 so far :). I was just curious what is the most anyone has ever saved with the price match? I was hoping it might still go down a couple more times since there is still a year left to go. Do they usually drop more as the cruise gets closer or is it just random? Thanks for any input. HappyAboard Posted January 27, 2014 #2 Share Posted January 27, 2014 It just depends on how fast the ship is filling up.
Kshecruiser0524 Posted January 28, 2014 Author #3 Share Posted January 28, 2014 Thanks. Hopefully we get a couple more price drops. If not, I am just happy to have saved already.
maryann92201 Posted January 28, 2014 #4 Share Posted January 28, 2014 I'm booked for December with Early Saver. I'm new to all of this. What is the best way to check and how to you go about getting the difference taken off your bill?
carrieluvsgreg Posted January 28, 2014 #5 Share Posted January 28, 2014 We don't usually book that far out. (I like to cruise at least once per year.) however, last year we were onboard in April and booked our next cruise for December. What I noticed was that when we were further out, the price dropped a bit, here and there then all summer it stayed exactly the same, then in early October, just before our final payment was due it dropped again. We booked while on that trip for the Dream relocation cruise in April. That price has remained very consistent so far. (It also seems to be selling out...) What is the best way to check and how to you go about getting the difference taken off your bill? I usually check at least once per week, however I've heard of folks on here that check at least once per day. When I'm doing a "mock" booking I try to look at a variety of scenarios to see how many cabins are available for each category, which will give some insight to whether or not the price will drop. When you see a price drop, there is form on the website that you can fill out and submit right from there. If you're before final payment, the difference will be reflected in your balance due. If you're after final payment you will see it listed as onboard credit.
Kshecruiser0524 Posted January 29, 2014 Author #7 Share Posted January 29, 2014 I'm booked for December with Early Saver. I'm new to all of this. What is the best way to check and how to you go about getting the difference taken off your bill? I check the price using this link: http://www.carnival.com/bookingengine/fareviewer Just put in your information and then compare your price to the price listed for your category. I found my category on my booking confirmation email and you can find your price before taxes and everything on carnivals website. If it is less use this link to request a price drop: http://www.carnival.com/request-forms/early-saver-claim.aspx
snc_cam Posted January 29, 2014 #8 Share Posted January 29, 2014 Or if you want, call Carnival directly. Did this a week ago when the price had dropped and they took care of it within 5 minutes or so.
maryann92201 Posted January 30, 2014 #9 Share Posted January 30, 2014 I check the price using this link: http://www.carnival.com/bookingengine/fareviewer Oh my gosh, thank you!! That was so much easier checking the rate then how I was doing it before.
crusinpsychRN Posted January 30, 2014 #10 Share Posted January 30, 2014 The best I did was just under $400. Drops were very random. If a sale was announced I usually got a rate drop. I'm going in April and have been checking regularly with no drops since early Januaury. I check daily! So far $360 off! Trying to beat my best! missypriss19 Posted January 31, 2014 #12 Share Posted January 31, 2014 I guess I booked at the right time because mine has gone up $200/person.
surfjock27 Posted January 31, 2014 #13 Share Posted January 31, 2014 We cruised the Breeze back in December 2012 and booked her 10 months in advance. During that 10 months we ended up (for 2 people) getting $520. Just booked the Breeze again for December and hoping to get some more drops! :) Good luck. bvhboat Posted January 31, 2014 #14 Share Posted January 31, 2014 I guess I booked at the right time because mine has gone up $200/person. Our cabin went up $180.00 since we booked it on Monday.
Scotch Mist Posted January 31, 2014 #15 Share Posted January 31, 2014 Can someone tell me if this is right? I was reading the Early Saver price drop form and it says that if you claim a price drop, any OBC I have will be removed! I booked on my last cruise and as such received a $50 OBC as part of the deal along with the early saver rate. I don't think it's right I should loose my OBC as a result of applying the price drop. Sue Do-Over Posted January 31, 2014 #16 Share Posted January 31, 2014 To claim the price drops: 1) Only Early Savers can claim credit after the final payment due date. It's a discount before that date, and OBC afterward. 2) You get the 'deal' offered by the new promotion -- it might mean losing the OBC that came with your original booking price. 3) You have to qualify for any new offers -- you can only claim military, seniors, casino offers if you meet the specific conditions for that offer. That is, if your friend got a casino deal, you can't claim it for yourself. 4) You can either upgrade your cabin or claim the discount, sometimes both... if you booked interior, and an OV is being sold for less, you can upgrade to the OV. Best deal: 12 day Med, booked at $829, paid $599, savings of $230 per person (6 guests).
grammacassi Posted January 31, 2014 #17 Share Posted January 31, 2014 Why would you lose a perk (obc) just because you are taking advantage of Carnivals ESP?
fishtaco Posted February 1, 2014 #18 Share Posted February 1, 2014 I have never saved anything! ES has been the cheapest rate where I can pick my own cabin and after that the cruise has always increased in price.
fishtaco Posted February 1, 2014 #19 Share Posted February 1, 2014 Booked last Sept. for this June 300 so far What cruise was that and what category and how many pax? I booked a June cruise in September and the price of all the June cruises I look at are always the same price or higher.
sdcruiser Posted February 1, 2014 #20 Share Posted February 1, 2014 I didn't think it was possible that Carnival would drop Suite prices. But we booked less than 4 weeks ago for a June sailing and have gotten the price reduced by $250 on an Early Saver rate. This is our first suite on Carnival and we've been in Mini Suites on HAL. I'm anxious to see the comparison.. SDCruiser
