StorkRN Posted January 27, 2014 #1 Share Posted January 27, 2014 We are cruising the Eastern Caribbean with a stop in St.Thomas. I know there are taxi stands at majority of the ports. We are hoping to do a Paradise Point Tram Ride (i believe we can walk to this) and were talking about an Island Tour. A few years ago we were in St Thomas and did a tour on an open air bus. I believe we just walked off the ship and jumped on. Does anyone know if these open busses are still running? And, do you know the approximate cost & how long the tour is? Thanks! reney313 Posted January 27, 2014 #2 Share Posted January 27, 2014 You can probably post on the St. Thomas board under Ports of Call and get the most up to date information. We were there last week and I did see the open air taxi's and it appeared you could just hop on. We took a ferry to St. John so I didn't use one of the taxi's on St. Thomas and am unsure of the prices. I remember reading it was around $6 though. steveru621 Posted January 27, 2014 #3 Share Posted January 27, 2014 Open air taxis are very much alive and well on St. Thomas. The prices for various destinations can be found at this site and others. http://www.**********/stthomas/getting_around_stt/taxi_stt/ If you have a large group most individual drivers will negotiate a price. 8 of us took a taxi to Sapphire Beach from the port. The quoted price was $160 round trip, and we got it down to $140 without tip. The driver brought us there, waited the 2 1/2 hours, and drove us back. Enjoy your cruise.
