Legend getting into port

We will be on the Legend in April and I've heard stories about other ships not making it into port at Mahogany bay. Has anyone ever had this problem on legend and or other ship? Will they substitute it with another port?

We sailed on the Dream Jan 4-11th of this year. We did not make it into Mahagony bay. We have been there twice before, and know the ship backs into a narrow channel to dock. The seas were rough the whole week and we did not make it into Roatan. We also did not make it into Belize.:(:( It was too rough for tender. According to the captain there were no other viable ports. There was a very unusual weather pattern during that week. We were refunded port taxes and given a glass of champagne on the last formal night. Carnival also gave a 25% discount on a future cruise (some restrictions apply). This was totally unexpected since the cruise contract allows the cruisline to cancel ports for safety reasons.

 

We are in the planning stages to repeat the itinerary on the Legend in May:D:D

The Spirit class ships are smaller and narrower. We made Mahogany Bay with no problem. We watched one of the larger Carnival ships attempt to make it in, then leave.

We were on the January 4th sailing of the Legend and weren't able to dock at Mahogany Bay. I actually thought we had docked - we were alongside the dock but they made an announcement they were unable to dock for safety reasons and we left. It was stormy there anyway.

Did you go to another port? Or did they just slow the speed of the ship getting back to Tampa?
