emeraldcity Posted January 29, 2014 #1 Share Posted January 29, 2014 (edited) Has anyone had any experience with making one of the Pets at Sea with a child? The staff member running the process can make it an enchanted experience ... or just a mechanical process with all the excitement of buying a pair of socks. I'd be interested in hearing what other cruisers have experienced. Edited January 29, 2014 by emeraldcity
Host Jacquelyn Posted January 30, 2014 #2 Share Posted January 30, 2014 My kids were each given a pets at sea voucher as a gift. Their ages are 10, 9, and 3. The staff member was very nice, but didn't go out of her way to make it extra special. I know what you mean, she was pleasant and all, but not 'Disney'. That said, I dont think my kids needed that, either. The older 2 are a bit beyond that at this point. Maybe the staff member would take her cue from you, if you are really into it. LovesCruising Posted January 30, 2014 #3 Share Posted January 30, 2014 Think it probably depends on the ship Several years back my grandsons got the Pets at Sea The "machine" used to "inflate" the pet is controlled with a foot pedal or sort. The person filling the pet let the boys actually fill it themselves and work the foot pedal. They loved it. Then they took extra time with them helping them pick out an outfit - so I guess it could be hit or miss. They loved it and slept with their pet the entire cruise.
