globe-trekker Posted January 30, 2014 #1 Share Posted January 30, 2014 I'm interested in booking an Eastern Med cruise on MSC's Preziosa in Oct 2014( Venice, Bari, Katakalon, Izmir,Istanbul, Dubrovnik, Venice). Can any of you expert cruisers tell me if there are any advantages to a port or starboard cabin on this itinerary? I've read that port side is best when sailing out of Venice but am curious about any other pros/cons. Thanks for your help!
AmoMondo Posted January 30, 2014 #2 Share Posted January 30, 2014 That's about it. Port side gives the best views going down the Giaducca (sp) canal but then again you can easily watch from up on deck. It really doesn't matter otherwise as you'll get the sun on the balcony either on the way down or the way back. If you're not getting a balcony then it's irrelevant which side of the ship you're on. Pay more attention to what is above and below the cabin you are selecting and also look out for a cabin that is connecting to another (can be noisy) or one with white space alongside it on the deck plan (this usually means staff stairway and there can be a lot lf noise from that also)
Rare CruiseIreland Posted January 30, 2014 #3 Share Posted January 30, 2014 Yes, as pointed out, port side for sailaway from Venice. I also chose port side for the sea day hoping to get sun most of the day that day. Ken
