We will be docking in Koper in July and thinking of the shore excursion to Ljubliana, i have read that nothing is open..is this the case? I know it's a wee while away but I like to have my ship in order;)

Not a great deal happening in Koper either. It's only a small place and can be covered in an hour. I would definitely opt for some sort of half day excursion and you will still have time to cover Koper when you get back.

We hired an awesome guide that picked us up at the pier and took us to Bled Castle/Bled Lake, Ljubjilana and a few other sites. We had a wonderful time with him and it was much cheaper than the ship's excursion. Our trip was in Sept 2011, you should be able to find our review of the tour in the ports of call.
