Thinking of going here to hike while in port. Anyone know how much a taxi would charge? How far? Dutch or French side? Stupid to do with the mosquito fright? We have been there twice and did the Orient Bay, Dawn beach and airport things wanting something different!

It's a difficult hike but we enjoyed it. Hiking in the woods and sweating probably would not be something that I would do right now to be honest though.

French side. Taxi to Orient $7 or a little more depending on number of people, Loterie is maybe a 1/2 mile walk, or have taxi drop you. Le Galion beach is the other side of Loterie from Orient, another easy walk.

I did it a couple of weeks ago, did not experience any mosquitos.

It's a smallish facility but plenty of butterflies. If you have a camera you can spend plenty of time stalking them, especially the morphos which never stand still.

Is Loterie Farm the same thing as the Butterfly Farm? I thought they were two different things/locations - one for ziplining and one for, well, butterflies.

They are 2 different places. The Butterfly Farm is near LeGalion beach. Loterie Farm is inland at the base of Peak Paradise and there is lots to do there. There is Ziplining and hiking and a pool with cabana rentals and restaurants. It's a beautiful place.
