bringing non alcoholic beverages on board

we have cruised quite a few times in the past and have always brought soda (a brand they don't sell on board) and bottled water with us. I know a lot of the cruise lines are fine with this as long as it is non-alcoholic. I thought RC was okay with it too, but when I spoke to someone last night they said we are not allowed to bring soda or water on board with us. We live locally so it is easy for us to just bring an extra bag.

Is this a new policy for them? And is it something that is enforced? Has anyone brought this type of stuff with them recently?

Thank you!
