We will go for our first cruise on Princess...we love Disney and Cunard, not pleased with Holland America....now booked on the Ruby Princess in June 2014.

I would like to know about any ports you may have comments on...Ireland, Scotland, England, Normandy....which are walking ports and where tours are the best choice. HELP!

Also, Princess Cruise alcohol policy, can you bring on wine, beer, hard liquor?

How about QM2? Can you carry on your own booze?

You should consider joining the Roll Call for your cruise. All your questions will be answered. I am on the June 4 British Isles on the Ruby Princess and the Roll Call has been invaluable in booking excursions.

Hi Mary,

You didn't mention the date in June, there's at least a couple - scroll through these to find yours, they're not in date order:

http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=481

Browse what your fellow-cruisers have posted, & introduce yourself on there

For questions about the ports, go to this forum:

http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=233

But first, mebbe check out some of the threads already there. To narrow it down a bit, scroll to the bottom of the page & type into the little brown "search this forum" box the name of one of the ports. This will bring up all previous Q & A about the place.

Cruise Critic is difficult to get your head round at first - well, at least it was for me ;)

But worth getting the hang of it, cos theres stax of great information.

Princess have a very strict alcohol policy, and they're quite ruthless about searching for it.

The only alcohol you are permitted to take aboard is one bottle of wine per adult, to drink in your cabin/balcony.

You can take aboard more wine, but you'll be charged $15 per bottle corkage - even if you drink it in your cabin.

If you buy perhaps Scotch or Irish Whiskies to take home, you can hand them over when you board & they'll be returned to you at the end of the cruise.

JB :)
