2mygirl2 Posted February 12, 2014 #1 Share Posted February 12, 2014 We are traveling on the Epic 3/23 and have a couple questions about the shows. I have made reservations for Blue Man Group, Second City, Cirque, and Legends. 1) We like to go to early dinner and then go to a show. I made most of our show reservations for 7:00. They suggest you arrive 15 mins early for the shows. Do you think we will have time to eat dinner at 5:30, when Manhattan opens, and then get to the 7:00 show? We do usually get in line for dinner around 5-5:15, so being seated at 5:30 is usually not a problem for us. 2) Attending the show is the highlight of our evening. We travel with our 15 year old daughter and do not spend much time in the casino or bars. We enjoy going to a show together each evening as a family. We are used to going to a different show each night of the cruise. It appears that there may be several nights that there are no shows for us to attend. Does Second City do a different version each night? Or is there another comedy show we can attend with our daughter? We cant wait to sail the Epic, and I am confident we will find something to do each evening as a family!

Get to the restaurant early. When we would leave for the show, there would be a very long line. The Blue Man Group was just great. My husband went to a Second City (early show) that was family friendly. I can't say if they do a different version every night.

As stated above, you do have time to eat before a 7am show, and we've done it (in Taste, which is often reported to be quicker service than Manhattan), however I think it is a bit rushed. We prefer to have something in the buffet beforehand and then maybe something in o'Sheehans afterwards. We usually do just one main show in the theatre during the week though, so I'm not sure I would want to do that every time if I was going to a few. There is plenty of entertainment around the ship, in places like Fat Cats and Headliners, as well at the theatre and Cirque. It helps if you can get out of the mindset of expecting the entertainment to be in the theatre each night. I believe Second City does different shows, although I can't say from first hand experience. 15 minutes was more than enough for me. You usually get a summary of the entertainment at the beginning of the week. Be prepared to change some of your plans and reservations if clashes occur. There is plenty to do. Your attitude seems right, so I think you'll enjoy it.
Single Cruiser Posted February 15, 2014 #4 Share Posted February 15, 2014 As Keith has sad, it's doable but could be a bit rushed. Make sure you tell your waiter you have a show. On one cruise we had slowish service in Manhattans and one of the group had an earlier reservation and had to leave before dessert to get to her show. Don't forget to allow time between the restaurants at one end and the theatre at the other end including a comfort stop as some of the shows are 1.5hrs long.
