Allure CLS Detailed Trip Report with Many Pictures

Recommended Posts

After lunch – not sure how we can call it lunch, it was a feast - we went to turn in our iPhones. They had to be turned in at the conference center on deck 3, not that easy to find.

We had 3:00 reservations for the ice show. We have done several ice shows on other ships and love them and have heard the one on the Allure is great, but I was just too full to go.

Our Last Day At Sea :(

No sunrise on my side today, but I got up early anyway. When I was getting ready to get Phil’s coffee and my donuts at the Donut Shop (again key lime and original glaze – YUM!), I heard him talking. I said, “Who are you talking to?” He said, “I’m looking for you to take a picture!!!” It was the 2 bottoms of a rainbow – the arch was hidden in the clouds. It looked to be like a football field away!! Unbelievable!!! Of course, my lens fogged up, but I did get some of it.

PhilNDebbieAt Sea...It's the last sea day:eek: It always makes me sad that vacation is almost over. I love the rainbow photos. In all the times I have cruised I have only captured one once! The desserts in Giovanni's look great and I am not a fan of dessert, Can they make mini versions? Actually I would like mini versions of the entire meal. That way we could sample more on the menu without feeling like oinks. I like to order multiple appetizers because everything looks so good in the specialty restaurants! Did you find yourself doing that?

Rifky...I am still laughing:D

Lol!! I do get up right before the sun... :) I actually check the times of all the sunrises and sunsets when researching our cruise so I can plan around it. The compass has the sunrises/sunsets too. I don't set an alarm or anything, but I find that I usually wake up anyway. I'm usually in bed by midnight or soon after though.

DW and I were on the Oasis last and enjoyed the art work of Peter Bahouth and Larry Kirkland - Small Wonders, wand was wondering if the Allure has something similar.

Sorry! I never actually caught the names for any of the artwork or attended any of the shows. I'd be willing to bet that they do have something similar though.

Actually the cannoli was like a mini one, not too big. Yes. The appetizers were amazing and we got several for the table. None of us were hungry or really wanted the main course by then. But the steak was excellent and the fries were SO delicious!!! It was worth it! There wasn't much left between me and Frank... Maria and Phil don't really hold up their end of the meal... Phil always needs to save room for his beer and Maria gives half (or more) of her meal to Frank. :) When you think about how much you COULD eat on a cruise, I usually feel good about how much I actually ate... Lol!

Time to pack and just watch the ocean. We got most of the packing done before we went to dinner. If you are wondering if it is harder to pack up 2 floors, yes it is… :) I am usually a last minute packer. I do not EVER want to leave. Phil usually gets packed up well before dinner, not me. But this time, I did get a lot of it packed up because it did seem like it was more being on 2 floors like that. I’m sure you are having a LOT of sympathy for me. LOL!

Our last meal… (Does it seem like all we did was eat?) I had the lamb shank, which I thought was very good. Frank got it too and didn’t really like it. M&P had the turkey dinner and did not like it. Our only not excellent meal - not too bad! An amazing moment was when Eten brought Phil and Frank bowls of lobster bisque. It had been on the menu a couple of days prior and Phil kept talking about it and wishing they would have it again. Eten made it happen! We had a very frightening moment when Maria had a piece of potato stuck in her throat and was actually choking and none of us even realized what was happening until she hit Frank. She was able to dislodge it without any embarrassing Heimlich maneuvers, but it was scaaarry!! Eten was ashen when he realized what was going on. It was okay - we still had dessert coming. :) Key lime pie and also a crème bruleee for the last time. Beer Ninja – we would miss him so much! – brought us blue shots, called blue eyed blond.

We tipped everyone extra tonight over the automatic gratuity rate of $14.25 per day per passenger for suite guests. If anyone is interested and for myself to keep track for next time – we always forget what we give extra – Phil and I gave $40 to the waiter, $20 to the assistant waiter, $20 to the bar attendant (plus beaucoup bucks during the week), $40 to the steward, $20 the assistant steward, $20 to Lucy the bartender in the VCL (again over what she got during the week), and $100 to the concierge. We got 3 WOW cards and gave them to Eten, Artie, and Lucy. We were very happy with the service on the Allure and wanted to show our appreciation. I did not think it could be possible on a ship this big to receive that high a level of service, but it truly was! :)

After dinner, we finished up packing. Got everything out in the hall by 10:40 pm. The deadline was 11:00 pm. (You will get very detailed instructions!) They had already taken the other luggage that had been out there when we went to dinner. But no worries – they came back and got it 5 minutes later. Like they were watching and knew just when we put them out… :o We did luggage valet and, once we put the suitcases out in the hall, we never saw them again until we landed in Baltimore. What an amazing convenience!!

Sad, sad moment seeing this:

It was odd that the entire cruise we barely ever saw anyone in our halls and rarely on the balcony. It was like we were by ourselves on that side of the ship the entire voyage.

I went to bed after spending some time on the balcony looking at the beautiful night sea, while Phil went to the casino and went to watch the Fountain Light Show at the Aqua Theater. He said it was very good.

PhilNDebbieAtSea:

Can you explain this after dinner shot? Is it only available for purchase in the main dining room? We never ate in the main dining room on our last Allure cruise. I'd love to be able to put that shot glass next to my Royal Martini glass.

I went down to the Windjammer (one floor down) and brought a small plate back. It was a zoo there! I was able to bypass the line at the door by saying I was not sitting and was in and out in a few minutes. I am wishing that I took a picture of the Windjammer and my food… For some reason, the pancakes on this ship – whether room service or the Windjammer – were very good and warm. First time ever that I found that the pancakes were not cold (although always tasty!) on any ship.

We left our beautiful room at 8:30 am. :(
