Demographic of free cabin recipients

We (my husband actually) were fortunate enough to receive the *free cabin* offer when our PVP Chantel CALLED to inform us it was available!

I apparently threw away the letter from Carnival without even reading it.

We really had NO plans to cruise again in the near future. Not because we didn't want to, but because of financial circumstances.

Now we are cruising in 55 days! :D

We are not big spenders in the casino nor do we rack up a large S&S bill. I really just assumed it was because of our cruising history (see below) that they wanted us back.

I received one. I've only cruised once on Carnival in 2012.. played and won lots in casino... received wine and other stuff basically playing with the $$ they gave me. Didn't eat at any specialty restaurant nor did we use Carnival excursions. Currently booked on Breeze in Apr for 4 in balcony for $995.

I understand.

I don't plan to leave permanently CCL over this, but it is preventing me from booking our next cruise right now. I guess it's time for me to finally shop around a little bit just to see what else is out there.

Understand! Just got off the Liberty today after an amazing cruise and planned to book another tonight! Somehow, after reading that over 1 Million people got free cruise offers, I just can't seem to find it in me to hand over that $500.00 deposit. I am thrilled for those that got the offer, just find it difficult to find my excitement to book now.

We were also looking at a NCL cruise that had an itinerary we really liked better. After our fun time this past week on the Liberty, we had decided to go with another Carnival cruise - maybe this is what we needed to give another cruise line a try....never hurts to broaden the horizons.

I think there was a wave of letters that went out at end of December, and now I am seeing more folks getting them now in February. I wonder if Carnival was testing the idea in December and had enough success to do it again this month.

I am also curious to know if anyone got their letter and they ALREADY were booked on an upcoming cruise as well.

We last sailed May 2013 (was our third one in three years), reside in east coast/Boston area, gamble a little, sail and sign around $200, purchased a few excursions on board including cabana at HMC, took ship tour, two interiors, one OV, one balcony/ocean suite. So maybe we fall into similar category as others who got their letter, BUT in September we booked our May cruise, so not sure if that hurt our chances of not getting the offer as we were already booked.

Our 19 year old son Bryson signed up on Carnival.com today and has a free casino cabin offer.

He is Platinum on Carnival and on our last cruise was 18 and spent quite a bit of time each day playing BlackJack and Roulette.

grats paulmedik & family :)

i'm glad to see you guys got in on this, regardless! i think carnival owes you a few free cruises as a 'marketing expense' for your great reviews

and grats to bryson on platinum at such a ripe old age of 18 lol. :D

I have cruised only two times with Carnival. I cruised the first time in 2012 in July (?) just me and my hubby. I filled out a survey loving every bit of the cruise. Cruised again May 2013. My husband, 2 kids and I. I spent around 500 for the whole cruise. I didn't book any excursions through them except my first cruise. I spent no money in the casino either time and we ate at the steak place at least once every cruise. Last cruise I was not happy with the changes Carnival made and I expressed so on that survey.

I actually had a 24 hour hold on a cruise with Royal. The next day right before paying I got the letter for the free cabin. I hate so many that spend a lot of money did not get the offer. That being said I have NEVER won anything in my life and I am excited I got it and I plan on spending my 1000 savings on this cruise. I usually worry the whole cruise about what i have spent so this time if I want something I am getting it!!:D

Hi Abisha :)

Yes here. I had mentioned just above a few posts that my wife and I

have a B2B voyage already booked and also received the free cabin

offer via mail and in our Carnival online account in 'my offers" in the

VIFP section.

:)

My husband and I are platinum with 13 cruises. My son who is 19 got a free cabin offer. I totally agree with peoples frustrations over not being a recipient of the free cruise. I am happy for the ones who did receive. Seems to be random and I am able to accept I didn't get one simply because I have no luck lol

I got one of these letters in August. I AM a gambler, but not even $200 the last couple of cruises, but my normal cruise roomies and I normally get a GS, but only because there are 5 of us in a room. Oh, and I am 50 years old. I booked and sailed last October on this one.

One of my normal cruise roomies is 28, she does NOT gamble at all, comes on a cruise with a spending limit of $150, including tips, and doesn't spend much money on anything other than a picture and drinks. She got the letter this past Monday. We booked and sail in May on this one!!

I can't wait to get on a ship again(and I cruised again in January!)!!!

Since so many are trying to figure out the the random free cabin given out I thought the people who received them can list a few thing about their past cruising habits and we can see if there's a pattern .

I did receive and book Breeze for this May.

My last cruise was December 7, 2013 on Liberty in an ocean suite 7 night.

I gambled maybe $30.00 and then won $50.00

My bar bill was about $80.00. I did no spa or excursions, we ate in the steakhouse one time and bought nothing other on the ship.

I cruised Freedom 6 night in November of 2011 again in an OS and spent about the same as above.

Inspiration 6 night in 2009 with one ship excursion and spent less than $150.00 , we were in grand suite.

Sailed on Fantasy in a grand suite for a five day cruise spent very little, again a GS.

I'm from the mid west and am 50 years of age.

This is my history with Carnival

I too had it sitting under my VIFP account but would of never knew if I had no received the paper letter so people might want to check their account

Do you go to cruise deals at the top and then to past guest? That is where I see special offers...and mine only shows a 2 category upgrade ...but I am at the top of the upgrade I would want on my Sunshine cruise and on the Liberty I am booked oceanview and there are no cabins above the main deck...which I have booked so the 2 category upgrade won't help me with either cruise :(

Since these offers started, I too have been checking my offers. Like you, I have only had the 2 category upgrade offer. Oh well, it is what it is.

It would be interesting to see what letter of the alphabet for those who have received a letter, my last name starts with S, still hoping and keeping my fingers crossed

Our last name begins with B.

We both got a letter in the mail for free cruises.

We got the offer.

Just booked a 7 day Western Caribbean going out of Galveston.

My wife's VIFP number that was given the cruise starts with the number 0101XXXXXXXXX

Our last name starts with H.

Both of us have only cruised three times in the past. All with Carnival. The letter was mailed to her, not to me.

I've typed in my VIFP number and all I'm offered is the 2 Category Upgrade.

I sailed a lot with Carnival. and Other Carnival Lines

I did not get an offer

I called and cancelled my reservation for next fall.

the cruise I have for next month, can't cancel with out taking a hit..............will go, will not spend a dime not necessary

I believe a long time Carnival employee.......Robert Borden signed all of the freebie letters. he is the VIP in charge of marketing, I think. As long as he is with Carnival, which is probably a long time, I am not.

No one is going to give free money ( for that is what it is) to others, with no criteria listed, expect me to pay thousands to keep sailing with Carnival while they sail free...even though they don't like Carnival.. That is a personal insult. Carnival picked winners and losers. I am a loser with them. Fine. I won't bother them with my business. They won't notice. I will feel better. and if enough out there feel like I do.. Carnival might regret running off some of their best cruisers.

Seems a bit petty and you are acting like it was a personal attack.

Like it has been said, this was sent to RANDOM people.

We have been on 7 Carnival cruises. Were on the Dream last March and received the letter in June or July. We booked an extended balcony on the Legend for only the taxes/fees. I think these letter are sent out at random but only Carnival knows for sure and you can be sure they are not telling.

Where is your proof that the offer was sent to Random people, or are you just regurgitating what you've heard/read on other threads?

We are about to take our 12th cruise with Carnival in May. Spend lots of time in the casino. We have not received this offer for a free cruise, but our daughter and her husband did. They have only been on one cruise before this. Our pvp said the offer is just random???? But just in case......I CHECK MY MAIL EVERYDAY, CARNIVAL!!!!!
