Forgot to mention, My 1st free cruise was last June. I didn't receive a letter and it wasn't in my offers on the website. My PVP called me, he said the ship wasn't full, and that I could go if I paid tax+port charges. It was an 8 night from NYC, I had 13 days notice!

2bethereagain: Log into Carnival. At the top by 'subscribe & save' are red words :CRUISE DEALS. Click that. This takes you to the sales/deals page.

There is a row of tabs across the middle. Limited Time Offers, Early Saver, Past Guest offers, EXCLUSIVE SAVINGS, resident rates.

Our free cabin offer was listed under Exclusive Savings. Once we booked, that 'deal' was gone. Just the $50 deposit showed under Exclusive Savings then. The free cabin offer was gone, not the whole section.

Thanks!

I had no current bookings. I have sailed six times previously on Carnival. I do not gamble, maybe spent $30.00, that's right thirty dollars on alcohol for all 6 cruises, don't spend a fortune on shore excursions, eat in the main dining room every night. My PVP said, "my name just came up, when can you go". It's looking like a random computer drawing.

My demographics:

In 2011, I booked our first cruise on Carnival, the 5-day Destiny for 2 people. A few months before the cruise my other DD wanted to join us and I tried to upgrade (I booked an aft-wrap) but all of the upgrades for 3 people were booked so we switched to an interior on the 7-Day Liberty (it still worked out well with my airfare already booked as we planned on staying in Florida for the week). A few weeks before the cruise the upsell fairy called and we went to a balcony for an extra $200. My S&S bill was about $500 (tips, massages, wine package). I also bought two Future Cruise Certificates, one for me and one for my adult daughter on board. I purchased 2 Carnival excursions for 3 people each prior to boarding (Belize and Roatan).

In 2012, I booked and paid for cabins on the Victory out of San Juan. I booked an aft-wrap, an aft-extended and an L-shaped cabin for 6 people, paid for everything and all of the S&S charges were put on my cabin. My S&S bill was about $900 for all 3 cabins, some tips (I prepaid others), wine package, and whatever else. I had $200 OBC from the FCCs. I purchased 2 Carnival excursions for 6 people each prior to boarding.

In 2013 we booked a cruise closer to port (didn't want to fly), wanted to try another line and chose NCL Breakaway.

In 2014, we wanted to go back to the Southern Caribbean so I booked Celebrity Summit out of San Juan, they are offering free drink packages or OBC and with that, the price was better than Carnival.

Last week I got the free cabin offer from Carnival, would never dream of cruising twice a year but couldn't pass it up. Because funds are low, I booked an interior spa cabin for free on the 8-Day Splendor out of New York (didn't want to pay extra to fly, pre-cruise hotels, transportation, etc).

It is very random. My 21 y/o son received a free cabin offer. He was always on my account and we spend very little on board. We are platinum when the program started. He has been sailing Carnival since he 2. My gripe is how did he get a free offer when I'm the one who always paid for his cruise. Unfortunately, we aren't able to take advantage of the offer due to trip being planned next month and cruise have to be booked by 3/3 and sailed by 6/30.

Being Canadian, I'm curious to know if any non-US resident has been offered the free cabin or if it's being made exclusively to US past guests?

There are quite a few Canadians cruising on the Breeze with us on 3/9, who got the offer.

Oh... I got the offer, but my husband did not. I am Platinum and he is Gold. My VIFP # starts with 8 and DH's starts with 7. I last cruised on Carnival in 2008, with my daughter. DH's last Carnival cruise was in 2006. I gamble a LOT and my husband does not gamble at all. Our S&S for the 2 of us usually averages out to about $100/per day. Mostly drinks, but we also buy souveniers for friends and family, and have eaten in the steakhouse on 2 cruises. We have cruised in inside, outside, and balcony cabins and have never booked directly through Carnival or a PVP (until I got the letter, and I just booked online). 2 or 3 of my cruises were with groups, and I went solo, once. We had not planned on cruising for a while due to disability and fixed income, but I couldn't pass up this deal. Even with outrageously expensive air from Chicago, we are still saving well over $1000, and we upgraded to an aft balcony on our upcoming cruise. We honestly don't know if we'll ever be able to travel again, after this cruise. I truly believe, based on all the variables that I've read here, that this was a totally random offer. I did believe at first, that they just want us back since we haven't cruised with Carnival in so long, and we do spend money onboard, but nope... That doesn't seem to matter, from what so many are saying.

Received a postcard in the mail for a free cruise from carnival, threw it in the trash. No such thing as a free cruise. Then someone called from "carnival" and said we had a free cruise coming, yea right! They were persistent and called back 2 more times, finally I spoke with them and just as I was about to give them my credit card I told them to call me back as I had to check the days I could travel. What I really wanted to do is get on the internet and find out if this was a scam, well to make a long story short as we all know it was not! I found this thread logged into my VIFP and low and behold it was legitimate. I am now booked on an 8 days and it leaves in 42 days.

My demo- 4 cruises $500-600 on sign and sail card. $300- 500 in casino.

It definitely seems to be a random thing. I always cruise with my mom. I got the offer. My mom did not. We're booked on the 8 day Breeze for April 12th.

Last cruise was 2011. We have 8 cruises with Carnival. We usually only buy 1 drink each and spend about $50 for photos and maybe $50 in the casino. Depending on the port, we may spend $100 on excursions.

Cruised twice with Carnival but haven't cruised in 3 years. We actually booked by coincidence within a week of receiving our offer. We typically have $250 on our S&S pp. We are THRILLED with the offer as we're saving $1,100 vs our original booking and are finally going to the Southern Caribbean which we've been dying to go to.

You can check whether you have a free cabin or not here:

Click this link: http://www.carnival.com/cclushome/loyalty/specialoffers.aspx

Make sure you are logged out of Carnival.com

Click this link in blue: Look up My VIFP Club # then enter the name and birth date of the person you are trying to locate offers for.

Click SEARCH then click SUBMIT and you will see their offers.

You can do this for all of your family members

If you know everyone's (in the family) VIFP number, can you just type it in and hit submit?

No free cruise yet --- hopeful before we book our October cruise.

I think its completely random --- except the players club invites which are separate from most of the above free cruises I believe.

Demo's:

Ohio

Sailed once on Freedom Feb 2014

FTTF

Cheers Program

$200 Mini bar purchases (LOL, I know)

WIFI Pkg

Pictures

Shore Excursions

$3K wagered in casino +

S&S when we got off was $1400 (including all of the above minus casino cash losses)

Maybe we won't get a free cruise because Carnival knows we like to spend money?

I answered this question before, and yes... There are Canadians who have received the letter. I know this because there are several who are on my upcoming cruise's roll call.

I got one and booked 7 days on Conquest in May. Last cruise was 2012, I've done 4 cruises with carnival, all 7 days. I was booked on the Triumph but it was cancelled after the fire and all that stuff they had go wrong with it. I've never had high sail & sign accounts, usually around $200. I never spend money in the casino. I'm 32 from TX.
