We plan to arrive 2 days before cruise and want to see some classic French quarter stuff and have beignets. Tourist stuff. Not worried about hotel cost as much as finding a great location. I can't walk extremely long distances so need to be central to the good stuff!

The best option would probably be a hotel that is on both Streetcar lines (Riverfront and Canal St.) so that you can get very close to the places you want to visit. Westin Canal Place hotel has an entrance on Iberville and Canal St. On Iberville, there are taxis lined up in case you need one. On Canal St, you can catch the Streetcar. You are also about a block away from the Riverfront Streetcar.

A very nice hotel in a GREAT location for all the things you want to do. Reasonable rates. This is an "historical hotel" so if you are looking for modern glitz this is not for you but it is more of what the French Quarter is all about.
