Prebuying the Cheers Package

I realize this has probably been addressed, but even after the 20 or so threads I read I didn't see anything about prepurchase...

 

Can the Cheers package be purchased ahead of time?

 

Does everyone over 21 in the stateroom have to buy?

No, you can not prepurchase it.

Yes, all guests in the same cabin over 21 have to buy it.

 

 

You can buy bar cash, which can be used toward Cheers, which is the way we plan to do it this time.

I heard that cruises departing from Texas can't buy on day 1.

Has anyone experienced this? Do you get to pay for one less day then?

I have heard that is true, but I have not sailed from Galveston before.

 

We usually purchase on the first sea day anyway, it saves around $120 off the cheers package. (2 people at around $50 and tax)

 

On embarkation day we usually foot the bill for a couple of buckets of beer, and drink our carry-on wine as we sail down the Mississippi river from New Orleans.

Texas law doesn't allow the sale of the Cheers program while in port. When we were on the Magic last year they started selling Cheers the morning after we sailed.

Such a good idea! I never thought about drinking the carry-on wine for day 1! That would save a lot of $$$ =)
