I booked with a TA but called ncl in the uk to book my UBP. We were 3 adults in the same cabin and I was able to purchase 2 UBP and 1 soda package as my niece doesn't drink alcohol. No questions asked. I paid using my credit card in sterling. Worked out cheaper.

I'm assuming your ordered UBP thru NCL UK. In that case, why would the cost not be liable for UK VAT at 20%?

Because what you are buying is not liable to UK VAT as it will never be bought back into the UK. The same as if you bought a DVD from amazon shipped from Jersey..

If you order it on the ship then if closed loop EU cruise the local vat applies.

The fact that you paid in pounds is irrelevant.

The product you purchased is not supplied in the UK.

The company you are purchasing from (NCL Bahamas I believe) is not a UK company.
