SoCalCruiser00 Posted February 20, 2014 #1 Share Posted February 20, 2014 What is the main difference between D1 and E1? D1 seems to be slighty bigger room and balcony yet is cheaper than an E1 that has a little smaller room and balcony. Why is that? Thanks.

The main difference is size and location. An E1 is usually less expensive than a D1.
dplusd Posted February 20, 2014 #3 Share Posted February 20, 2014 Category D balconies are a bit larger than the E Category. The different is a full size sofa in D vs a love seat in E. Width is the same I believe. Generally category E is less expensive but once bookings open, supply and demand take over.
Dajbman22 Posted February 20, 2014 #4 Share Posted February 20, 2014 As others stated The D Cabins are actually slightly (by a couple feet) longer then the E cabins and have a full sofa vs the E's love seat. For most purposes the "D" cabins are generally superior to E cabins (they are appropriately titled rooms in that sense). On my sailing the D2's with C&A balcony discount are currently $100pp less than even an inside cabin. It's all supply and demand, and for some reason the D2's were just not selling enough, so to the victor go the deck 9 superior spoils.
Lars2014 Posted February 20, 2014 #5 Share Posted February 20, 2014 On Voyager class we always try to get E1 hump cabin. We would rather have that than any D cabins elsewhere.
webzila Posted February 20, 2014 #6 Share Posted February 20, 2014 We just changed our reservation from E1 to D1 today (Navigator) and had to pay extra. It was not cheaper than E1. We decided to go from E1 to D1 because we will be traveling with a 2 year old who is now too big for a pack n play and all E1's have a pullman but no sofa bed.
