pinkroses Posted February 21, 2014 #1 Share Posted February 21, 2014 Having secured a boardwalk balcony on the Allure, wondering if we should chance it and go for a superior ocean view balcony guarentee for just a few hundred more??!!
Ken at the beach Posted February 21, 2014 #2 Share Posted February 21, 2014 For a couple of hundred total I would make the switch.

pinkroses Posted February 21, 2014 Author #4 Share Posted February 21, 2014 $600 but that still isnt bad compared to what a regular OV balcony is! I tried looking at what is still available, but its hard to tell. The site shows only D1 and the guarentee is D7 and D8. Maybe thats just a starting point
Dajbman22 Posted February 21, 2014 #5 Share Posted February 21, 2014 Having secured a boardwalk balcony on the Allure, wondering if we should chance it and go for a superior ocean view balcony guarantee for just a few hundred more??!! That's all about your personal preferences. The staterooms have the same sq footage inside, but the superior ocean view has a slightly larger balcony (on average). From what most reviewers put, the Boardwalk cabins can be a bit noisy at times, and some people have issues with having a direct eye line to other cabins/public areas. If you prefer people watching and a view of the life of the ship, stick with the boardwalk. If some more quiet, and a view of the ocean/ports of call is worth a couple hundred dollars to you, then go for it.
pinkroses Posted February 21, 2014 Author #6 Share Posted February 21, 2014 (edited) Thanks! The people and the life of the ship don't bother us, but you can't beat an OV. However, my fear is that I do not do well with gambling. Those casinos see me coming and immediatly pull out the vacumm cleaner! So I wonder if I would be pleased with what RC chooses for me!! How soon do you find out which cabin is yours? Edited February 21, 2014 by pinkroses
Gonzo70 Posted February 21, 2014 #7 Share Posted February 21, 2014 I actually liked the Boardwalk balcony more than an ocean view; great people watching and a partial view of the ocean - if you score a Boardwalk balcony towards the aft the ocean view is pretty good AND as a bonus you can watch the Aqua Theater shows & practices from the comfort of your private balcony. It can be a bit noisy at times - but the sound is minimal with balcony door shut.
Ken at the beach Posted February 21, 2014 #8 Share Posted February 21, 2014 (edited) Ok so $600 is a bit more than a couple of hundred. Not sure I would pay that much more. I guess it would depend on ports and how much I was going to use the balcony. As you live in North America once RCI assigns you a cabin you may change it for any other available cabin in the exact same category. I.e. Switch a D8 aft for a D8 midship. Hope this helps. I agree, $600 is too much to move. I thought it was $200 total, and for that it would be worth it.

Maybe thats just a starting point No guarantee on this, but my guess is that if the site shows no D7/D8 available to book, but does show a reasonable amount of D1 availability, odds are pretty good you won't end up with a D7/D8. But $600 does sound a bit hefty... Sent from my Galaxy S4 via Tapatalk
