Car rental on public holiday (June 2)

We end our cruise on what appears to be Republic Day in Italy. Am heading to Tuscany for 3 days after cruise and can not rent a car in Civitavecchia!!! Anyone having problems renting a car on this date? I think our only option is to take a train to airport to rent a car defeating the purpose.

We are doing the same thing. Coming in on the Celebrity Reflection on 6/2. We had planned on renting a car at the port, but when we learned that couldn't happen we discovered we could head back to FCO where rentals are available. There are some rentals at Termini also. For us it works even better. Cheaper renting and dropping off at the same location - even with hiring a car to take us over to the airport.

We decided to do the same but will do so in Florence as that is the airport we will fly later in the week. Glad I looked into well before!
