susquehannaretriever Posted July 23, 2005 #1 Share Posted July 23, 2005 I am a huge (not that big just drink alot:D ) iced tea drinker. I drink iced tea all year round. I read on a post that the iced tea on board Carnival was terrible? I was planning on skipping the soda card and just drinking my favorite also but in light of this.....anyone have an opinion? THANKS! GoinCruisin Posted July 23, 2005 #2 Share Posted July 23, 2005 Well, living in the south, I am an iced tea snob... It's not iced tea if it is not sweet tea, and if it's not made with sugar water, it's not fit for drinking :D If it has to be "doctored", it's not worth it... Carnival's tea would never do for an iced tea snob :D So for me, I don't care for it... now, they DO make a pretty good Long Island Iced Tea :p

I too am an iced tea drinker. Carnival's is typical unsweetened - like most restaurants. They provide sugar, sweet & low and splenda (i think) if you prefer to drink it sweetened. True...it is not like my home brewed tea...since it is made from a concentrate, but it is close enough for us! ;)
GoinCruisin Posted July 23, 2005 #8 Share Posted July 23, 2005 Do they not have sugar for the tea?Say it isnt so..:( Corina, they have sugar for the tea, LOL!!!! But those of us that are snobs know that you can never make good iced tea once the tea is cold using sugar packets :D LOL! I will say, I have had tea up North, and if you like that, you probably won't mind the tea on the ship....
Rare finoky Posted July 23, 2005 #9 Share Posted July 23, 2005 We had an iced tea snob with us on our last cruise. He hated the tea and I loved it. We still joke around about that tea. So maybe GC is on to something.
Rare Tom-n-Cheryl Posted July 23, 2005 #10 Share Posted July 23, 2005 The "tea" out of the dispensers is horrid (but I drink it anyway:o , w/Splenda). The tea they serve in the main dining room is "decent" - and the tea in the Supper Club is better yet... Tom
homeofthedogs Posted July 23, 2005 #11 Share Posted July 23, 2005 I agree! The Long Island Iced Tea is VERY VERY GOOD!!! So good, that I had a terrible hangover the next morning. YUCK!!!!! LOL!
BrendaB1 Posted July 23, 2005 #12 Share Posted July 23, 2005 I found the tea so bad that I stick to water in the dining room.
Rare Tom-n-Cheryl Posted July 23, 2005 #13 Share Posted July 23, 2005 OK........here's how to have the best iced tea on the ship! Go to lido deck and grab some tea bags (they have several types to choose from). Get some sugar packets (or splenda). Go back to your room and call room service. Ask for a POT of hot water (yes, they will bring it to you). Place your tea bags in the pot and let steep, add your sugar and pour over a glass heaped with ice. You can keep a fresh pot of tea in your room all day this way.....it's the best!!!! Cheryl:p

I'm from the north but have to have my "sweet tea" just about every day. It's sitting next to my keyboard right now :D .
zydecocruiser Posted July 23, 2005 #15 Share Posted July 23, 2005 I'm from the South, too, and the tea is ok. Reminds me instant, but I can and do drink it. They also have lemonade and I usually mix some of that in. Voila - instant Arnold Palmer! They have all kinds of fake and real sugar including splenda and sugar in the raw. Also fresh lemon. There is always hot water available as well as tea bags. And ice. As mentioned, for the purists or tea snobs, they can make their own. Or heck, the real snobs can bring their own tea bags. Darn, don't seem to have a pic of the hot water... (note to self)
Txcruisers04 Posted July 23, 2005 #16 Share Posted July 23, 2005 The tea is ok. Carnival's lemonade is very very good and I am a lemonade snob :)
Lilylady Posted July 23, 2005 #17 Share Posted July 23, 2005 The lemonade is pretty good. I'm not a lemonade snob but I'm glad to know that the "purists" approve :) .
GoHeels Posted July 23, 2005 #18 Share Posted July 23, 2005 I am a southerner, and I thought the iced tea on the Glory was nasty! Adding some lemon does help it, though. I, too, ended up drinking more water with lemon than tea.
JrMafia90 Posted July 23, 2005 #19 Share Posted July 23, 2005 I love Ice Tea too! But Carnival's isn't the best. But their long island ice tea is a different story.
Cruising89143 Posted July 23, 2005 #20 Share Posted July 23, 2005 I think that if you are a southerner then the tea will not be good. I am used to the brewed tea and sugar is added at the time of making it. I can drink Carnival or any other cruise line for that matter but it is not the best. cruisinaz Posted July 23, 2005 #21 Share Posted July 23, 2005 I too am an ice tea freak! If it's not freshly brewed I don't much care for it. Their ice tea is out of the machine - from a powder I think. I drink the lemonaide all week when I cruise!
Steve&Alisha Posted July 24, 2005 #22 Share Posted July 24, 2005 I love both lemonade and iced tea. I was ok w/ drinking them in the ship, even though neither one was "great". I actually started mixing the 2 together, and it was pretty good. Alisha
hella123@aol.com Posted July 24, 2005 #23 Share Posted July 24, 2005 When we are on board we mix half Ice Tea and half Fruit Punch. It really is good. I recently came back from visiting my sister who lives in Memphis. I LOVED Sweet Tea. I am hooked. No other tea will do. Helen
DreadPirateRobert Posted July 24, 2005 #24 Share Posted July 24, 2005 when there's so much rum out there. And while we're at it, the biscuits are an insult to Southern grandmothers too. Guess what, I'm cruising anyway.
auntienance Posted July 24, 2005 #25 Share Posted July 24, 2005 I thought the tea on the Lido deck was very bad, DH loved it however. Go figure
