true45 Posted February 25, 2014 #3 Share Posted February 25, 2014 That the person next to you can elbow you to make a point while overhearing your conversation Also the waitstaff tend to wait for a few tables to be seated and places the orders together so you do not get the benefit of a faster paced meal But they are not all spaced close Good luck you can also get one with more privacy Happy sailing OP Linda Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app
Lane412000 Posted February 25, 2014 Author #4 Share Posted February 25, 2014 Linda Thanks for the response. My wife and I normally use a cruise to spend time together since work kind of keeps us apart during the year. I guess we could always just order into the room.....laughing. Thanks again
laslomas Posted February 25, 2014 #5 Share Posted February 25, 2014 I sailed on Eclipse in January, in the MDR (select dining). Several evenings we asked for table for 2 and yes, they are very close to neighbouring tables. Other than once when seated by a window, they were in positions I would say were inferior. Either adjoining the serving and clearance station, very noisy, or in a corner close to the kitchens where on several occasions I wished I had a hard hat as trays loaded with several meals were carried over my head, and it was so dark it was difficult to read the menu. It is a shame as the large tables are nicely placed, but as you say sometimes you just want a bit of time to yourself.
true45 Posted February 26, 2014 #6 Share Posted February 26, 2014 Lane412000 When you board check out the location of your table (on card in your cabin) in dining room If you are not happy with it speak to the maître d and often they can help change it Have a great time Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app
