pauleydm Posted February 26, 2014 #1 Share Posted February 26, 2014 I will be going to Curacao in October. Are there craft markets in Aruba that sell items made by local artists? Wood carvings, sculptures and original artwork. I am not looking for items made in other countries and shipped and sold in typical tourist souvenir shops. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated:)

Brandi39 Posted March 1, 2014 #4 Share Posted March 1, 2014 There is a big handicraft market we passed by on a tour. Otherwise right near the pier there is a lot of locals selling some nice handcrafted items.

Otherwise right near the pier there is a lot of locals selling some nice handcrafted items. The thing is -- the stalls near the pier sell lots of stuff NOT made locally. The vendors are mostly from other islands as well. Your best bet is in a souvenir store (check for any "made in China" labels) and the one true local handcraft seller is Caribbean Handcraft in Jan Thiel. Isa65 Posted March 3, 2014 #7 Share Posted March 3, 2014 No, this store is actually in a residential area on the East side. But they do have some items in tbe souvenier stores downtown. Right at the pier there are souvenier stores in Riffort Village that carry quality items.
