Carnival Gift Card--?

:confused:Can you pay for cocktails on a ship using a Carnival Gift Card? Or can they only be applied to your Sign & Sail card while on the ship?

I do not know how you can use them while you are on a cruise...if one is given to you. So any info concerning these gift cards would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Essentially, yes. Literally, no.

The only way you pay for things on the ship is with your sign & sail card. When you check in (either online or at the terminal) you choose whether your sign and sail card will be backed with cash or credit/debit card. They don't charge your card until a day or two after the cruise. So - if you want to 'pay for cocktails' with a gift card you just make a trip down to Guest Services and have them apply the balance of the gift card to your sign & sail account. They use those funds up first and charge whatever amount remains to your card (I've only done card, not cash - with cash you'd have to settle up with them before you left the ship :) ).

I had a gift card our last cruise - it's easy peasy to run down the second or third day when the line is short and get that applied. :)

Do you have to wait until your on the ship or can you call customer service prior to sailing and have it applied that way?

Apply it on board, either at guest services or at a kiosk

You're very welcome Mona K! :)

I forgot about the kiosks! They seem very quick and easy but since there was a bigger line for the kiosk than Guest Services I went there. lol!

Hmmm, I'm not certain since I had mine applied onboard but you can use a gift card to pay for your cruise ticket so you probably can call Carnival and have it applied before you ever leave home - it would be worth checking into! Edited by platinum.wannabe

This is what we ask for! I also purchase them before our cruises and have them applied as soon as we board at guest services instead of carrying all that cash with me. I have heard that you can cash out the night before in the casino if there is anything left. We just have it applied to a new gift card to use for the next cruise, though we normally come pretty dang close to using all of it;)

If you have a remaining balance on the gift card at the end of the week; is there a way to get the difference back in cash?

Any remaining balance will be put back on the gift card for you to use in the future.

How do you normally get your card. Electronically or actual card. If actual card how long does it take to get. We leave in 22 days

Email is faster. Cards take about a week. Refunds can be done at guest services with a photo iD.
