ft lauderdale car rental

I'm looking into renting a car for our pre-cruise overnight. I'm thinking we would want to pick it up at the airport then there is no need for cabs, shuttles what have you to get us on our way.

 

I'd like my husband to drop the kids and I off at the port with our luggage and then return the car. So my question is are there other places to return a rental in Ft Lauderdale? Will I need to do a one way rental to make this happen?

 

In a perfect world I'd love to be able to pick up at the airport. Drop near the cruise port. No extra charge for a one way. Plus have a shuttle to get my hubby back to board the ship. I know this might be asking for a lot. We got lucky and it worked when flying in from MCO and sailing from Canaveral :)

You can rent from Budget picking up at FLL and return to their 17th Street location just outside the Eisenhower port entrance. They have a shuttle back to the port.

We have reserved a car for one day after our cruise arriving at Port Everglades. Payless is sending a shuttle that will bring us to their Port Everglades office. And we can return the car to the Payless office at the Fort Lauderdale Airport at no extra charge. (Per their office, there is an additional drop off charge if you return the car to Payless at Miami Airport.) Hope this info helps!
