Dream dinner question

First Disney cruise and we're confused. We've been on multiple cruises and the buffet was always an option for dinner, rather than the dining room. Is that not the case on Disney?

Looking at the Navigators posted online I don't see Cabanas listed as a dinner option.

What if you accidentally nap through your assigned dining time? Do you have to make do with hamburgers from the pool-side grill?

Thanks!

The pool deck buffet on all DCL ships is open for dinner. This is Cabanas on the Dream. It is NOT a buffet. It is a "cruise casual" sit down restaurant that you can enter any time during the stated hours (no assigned times). They serve 5-6 items in each category from the menu plus a salad bar and a "carved item." They are NOT open on the first or last nights of the cruise.

Some of the fast food type options are also open at dinner time. and room service is available. The "fast food" outlets have a lot more than hamburgers; they have been improving their "healthy options" considerably over the last few years....

Sleep thru your assigned dinner time? Well, you can easily set a wake up call on your phone if you plan on a nap. In fact, you SHOULD set a wake up call at least once during your cruise as they are "Disney-fied" like many other parts of the ship.

So Cabanas is not the name of the buffet? So it is Cabanas that is not open for dinner - or is it only open on certain nights?

Does the buffet have a name?

Cabanas is the name of the restaurant on the pool deck. At breakfast and lunch, it functions as a buffet. At dinner, it functions as a sit down restaurant.

It is open every night of the cruise EXCEPT the first and last nights. OK, so if you are on a 3 night cruise, that means it is only open the middle night. If you are on a 14 night cruise, it is open 12 out of the 14 nights.

The buffet does not have a name. The location has a name. The serving style at the location (buffet vs. sit down) changes.
